Good to know Spearing is available but hope Stevie is back ASAP, need to drop Adam for a game or two in order for him to buck up his ideas, he knows theres no competition for his place right now and his performances haven't been all that! Needs a kick up the back side and reduce the number of Hollywood passes he's been trying to play of late, the first 20-25 mins of yestersdays game we kept if simple and cut through Wigan at will!
Personally, I would base it on whether or not I saw Shelvey being involved at any point. I would rather see Shelvey start if he is going to play any part, but he struggles to pick up the pace of the game when he comes on as a sub, whereas Spearing seems to start at whatever pace the game is at when he comes on. In short, I'd rather see Spearing come on later in the match than Shelvey as he would make more impact from the bench. That said, I think Spearing is a fairly decent player so I wouldn't object to him being in the starting line up.
this is at home.... spearing bench at best.. he messed up his chance. erm.... gerrard? he'll not be fit so no point thinking he'll do much bar 10mins. really don't know what we'll do but surely to god carroll must get a game or we must start thinking he is being sold so is being denied appearances or risk of injury
I would start Spearing like mentioned he goes with the pace of the game,and maybe use Shelvey in the second half As for the Adam comment above i've been impressed with him and yes he does try the "Hollywood pass" but if you don't try you don't learn right I think a few people are against Adam ATM because he missed the pen that could of given us 3 points
Phil Thommo said he could be back after the Blackburn game. Could be some truth in this considering he is ITK.
