I know he earned his impecable credentials at Manchester United, but in the twilight of his playing career he did OK by us as well. In fact Sparky will have a well earned spot in the Chelsea hall of fame. As much as I respect him for his great contribution here, I am baffled by his recent proclamation in the press that he is eyeballs out for the Chelsea managers job. ABV is someone who, after all the upheaval in recent years, I have taken on board in my head , as someone, at last, who's going to clock up a fair few years in the job and achieve something. I'm sure Sparky must know that as well, So why is he going public on this now! Does he know something we dont?
Nah ! Don't panic. Whist he was a good player, he's not half the manager he thinks he is. He jumped ship from us (Fulham) already convinced that he was a shoe-in either for Villa or You. He did ok with us, but didn't fit the culture like Hodgson or Jol did/does, I don't think he understood why or how to deal with it. Itr's partly a big ego issue. Now, Mourinho has a big ego, but can back it up with ability, intelligence, humour and even occasionally humility. Sparky falls short in some of these (as a manager). Good luck, except in derby games!
Tosh--To be honest, I dont think our owner, sees any British manager as a possibility even if our new boy doesn't measure up. I think we have got to a stage now where, most new players and staff will be resourced from within if possible. I think Sparky ought to give up on the idea of a return as manager of the club. Perhaps youth team coach, possibly!
