He was replaced by current boss Harry Redknapp, who failed to keep them up but led them back to the top-flight at the first attempt only for them to once again find themselves in the bottom three this term. Hughes led the Potters to a record ninth-placed finish last season in his first campaign in charge and his side sit 10th heading into today's Britannia Stadium clash. "Maybe it is a good thing that I was relieved of my position as I wouldn't have had this opportunity," he said. "Here I walked into a Premier League club where players understood what it took to win Premier League games week in week out. QPR didn't have that." Stoke defender Robert Huth has been given a two-match suspension and fined after he admitted breaching FA rules in relation to social media comments. Huth had responded to a Twitter account which posts sexual images of individuals and asks users to guess their gender. Huth was also fined £15,000 and ordered to complete a mandatory education course. Redknapp, meanwhile, took his struggling players up to train at England's St George's Park HQ yesterday having lost 10 consecutive Premier League games on the road. Redknapp, hoping to seal a £3million deal for Wolves winger Bakary Sako before Monday's transfer deadline, said: "You can change what you have for dinner, or whether you go to the game by coach or by train. At the end of the day it is about the players on the pitch."
Bloke should be given a rest IMO as it appears most were wrong about Hughes. Yes his record was poor ... Who did we end up with and how much has he spent?
We will see how good he is when he has to break up Pulis's aging team and start building a new one!! IMO he is terrible in the transfer market and has only really done well with someone else's team.
He's already changed Stoke into a better footballing team than they were. Hughes was terrible with us, like Harry, but seems to do ok everywhere else he has Managed.
