Rangers chief says side wonât replicate Blackburn showing Rangersâ visit to the Reebok Stadium will be their first away match since they produced one of their worst 45 minutes of the season in a 3-2 defeat at Ewood Park last month. The Rs fell apart to allow Rovers storm into a 3-0 half-time lead, but Hughes is confident they have learned the lessons of that result as they face another key match near the foot of the table. âWeâre further down the line and we have done a lot more work,â Hughes told London24.com. âThe group now understands what is acceptable and what weâre trying to achieve in every game. âThere are fundamentals which I repeat on a daily basis. We have been building on the training field, and I see what we are trying to achieve starting to come through. âNow we need to show that we can produce it in the games that count. Last week I was really encouraged by what I saw from my team, so weâll build on that and weâll be better again.â Hughes was encouraged by QPRâs improved performance in the 1-1 draw at home to Everton last week, and believes a similar display against Owen Coyleâs side will be enough to get a result. However, despite just two points separating Rangers in 16th from bottom club Wigan Athletic, Hughes insists victory is not absolutely vital against Wanderers. âI donât think weâre at the point of saying itâs a must-win game or a six-pointer,â said Hughes. âWeâre trying to take a positive result out of all the games that we have left. If we do that, that will maintain our position. If we acquire the points weâre capable weâll keep above the teams below us. âWith the ability we have in the squad I feel weâll create chances and hopefully take some. Itâs never an easy place to go, irrespective of where they are in the league. âTheyâre a difficult side to overcome on their own patch. Weâll have to perform really well, and if we produce what we produced against Everton I will be happy, I think that will be good enough.â The Rs boss also expects this relegation battle to go down to the wire â but is confident his charges can pull clear before they visit Hughesâs former side Manchester City on the last day of the season. âIt usually does [go down to the last day], he said. âHopefully we wonât be involved in that because we have quite a difficult game on the last day of the season! Hopefully weâll be safe by then.â

Their run-in appears to be considerably more difficult than their relegation rivals, with Bolton, Sunderland and Swansea being the only teams in the bottom half of the table still to play QPR. "We will have a say in that and will try and affect what they want to do in terms of their approach to the game and what they are comfortable in doing. I like his comment about "keeping above the teams below us".... That's fine with me, as long as there are at least 3 of them.. Anyway, keeping above the teams below us is certainly going to be more of a challenge than keeping below the teams above us. Or something..
