Sparky Issues Taarabt Advice

Ok,but if hes fit he has to start the next game. Diakite,Derry and Barton gave us nothing moving forward and I think Adel would have looked to play some through balls. That last game was crying out for Tarbs. Oh yeh and If MH is talking about players not dribbling in our half,then what about Diakite trying to dribble the ball just outside our own box??..Time to take a few risks and try to get some through balls to Cisse who looks like scoring whenever he gets the ball..

 

'Never speculate outside the final third', was what our gaffer always preached - at a much lower level of the game.

In the central zone you should be looking to pass, either short and simple or long and telling - but don't get caught in possession.

Nothing about the pro game surprises me more than accomplished players still learning the basics... and I'm referring to a lot of them, not just Taarabt.

 

Whatever happened to the basic art of defending!He wasn't playing at the Reebok,yet we still left a guy unmarked to head in from 4 yards!

 

Adel picked himself up and tried to make things happen to redeem himself.

Why single out one person, two weeks later, in a huge list of individual blunders.

 

Then why play him in a position where he doesn't want to play?

Not sure he was singling out Adel, as normal you would have to see the question he was asked and put the quote into context, IE he may have been directly asked about Adel therefore he gave an answer about him and not others. Difficult to say without the entire conversation, i would say

At this moment in time without Adel Taarabt we aren't QPR. He has been blessed with just a creative game and regardless of this year with us he has caught the eye without doubt some of his passing has been world class which in fact is exactly what he will become. Hughes will help him as he was poorly managed under NW IMO. I am very excited to see this team growing in the amazing challenge we have in front if us

 

Strange focus now from MH if its not out of context! This happened 10 days ago, there were a few more defensive errors Saturday that need fixing.

 

COLIN was the only manager willing to put up with this punk's antics.

And he ain't scored a single goal all season!!

 

I hope he does turn into a world class player, as much as he aggravates me I love him.

Traore, Young, Barton, Adel, Buzz. What do they all have in common?

They have the ability to put a ball 60 yards across the pitch to land on a postage stamp but can't put a straight ball through to one of our own players who is stood 6 feet away. The glory pass looks lovely on the TV highlights and may get a standing ovation but it hardly ever gets us anywhere.

I watch little of other clubs but have seen Barcelona hold on to the ball and wait for a short game give-and-go one or two touch set of passes to outsmart the offside trap and release the striker at just the right time. Please don't think that I am comparing us to the likes of Messi and Iniesta but wouldn't this sort of play through the middle of the park be an alternative to pinging a hopeful pass to SWP in the hope that he can knock a ball into the penalty box?

We love the 4-4-2 system with a pair of quick wingers but it doesn't always work and if we have a Plan B then it needs a bit more work because along with Plan A it isn't doing the business. If Diakite is meant to be this solid tackling midfield general then let him win the ball and ensure a short pass goes to someone like Adel and bring in Zamora & Cisse through the middle of the park.

Sorry but Adel on the wing doesn't work, Barton trying to boss the midfield hasn't worked, Derry blows hot and cold, SWP couldn't pass water and Zamora looks knackered after 30 minutes in the first half and 20 minutes into the second half. We are running out of time to decide on which formation suits us best but they train enough during the week to work on short passes and triangles to keep the ball in the midfield without losing possession.

We also need a shouting defender, someone like an Alan McDonald character who can hold the back line and organize our shape when defending set pieces. Anton, One Size, Onuoha, Taiwo, Young, Traore, Gabbidon all fail and only Clint Hill ever looks like he raises his voice at the back.

Looking at the teams we are going to face is scary, none of them are going to give us the time we need to make our mark on the game. It is going to get very ugly.

This is how the journos work. They will often chat to or interview someone, get loads of detail and then pick out a sentence or two and spin them into something that they are not. The really bad ones just pick out words and phrases from conversations and string them together to form any sentence they wish.

 

I was very hard on Adel in the autumn, when his (alleged)mithering to leave and lack of contribution (Spurs first half anyone?)were at its height. But I have been very impressed with his attitude and application since ACON, and he and Cisse remain the payers that I sit forward for on my seat when they get the ball (Diakite may become one of these as well). Its players like these that i pay huge amounts of cash to watch football for. He has to play when fit, and i think the combination of him Zamora and Cisse is dynamite - we have only seen it for part of a half against Wolves. There you go DT, I was wrong!
But our expectations of Adel for this year were way out of proportion (mine included). It's just a shame that some of the improvement hasn't paid off in goals or assists - even 50% of last year would see us in a different position. And before anyone reminds us of how often he has hit the post, as an old coach of mine said - that isn't unlucky, it's poor technique in not hitting the target. Harsh, but ultimately true.
Sparky has obviously been good for Adel, these comments clearly journo out of context crap.

 

I have a massive lot of faith in this player Taarabt as I have gone on record as saying he could have it all ... I think at times going forward he does try too hard with his gifts. To me he is that diluted Zidane type of player can't really tackle but is very strong with ball skills and vision gifted to only a very very few. He can get out of a blind alley most of the time but of course why go down there in the first place? ... I stand that if he learns 10% of the composure of a player like Zidane he will be one hell of a star. Blooded to the premiership and when we survive through maybe a coupe of his goals then next year he has to take his chance in a settled QPR team who will be pushing for Europe. Laugh away lads but when this side starts playing we are going to be in for a treat and should claw back some of our reputation.

 

Think you've answered yourself Swords. If AT respected NW and was being managed properly he wouldn't have been able to sulk, ignore the manager as he leaves the field or bugger off on the bus at half time. No complaints when he gest subbed these days. Still our best and most creative player IMO. MH is simply trying to get him to do it in the right places and hone his game. No issue from me and i'm sure it wont be anything he hasn't said in private first.

 

Well said 74 already MH is taking a better approach with AT ... Lads remember what NW went on record as saying about AT ... very unprofessional and to me AT in his French interviews came out miles on top. IMO ...Barton came in and slagged off AT and NW then joined in!. Barton then turned on some of the others before finally NW himself. AT conducted himself with a fair amount of dignity under the outrageous circumstances.

We should not forget that this club has imploded that it pretty much clear now

 

Yes, Taraabt's not being singled out; it's journo out of context crap.

However, surprise surprise, Adel has still got stuff to learn and, imo, he's already learned a great deal in the second half of this season. He's putting in more consistent effort and his defensive play has improved. He even put in a defensive header in our last home game (which was a first). The goals will come and, if Adel had played, I think we may even have got a different result against Bolton.
