Spark will catch fire: QPR must give Mark Hughes more time, says George Graham 'I am not certain that anyone coming in now would be able to do a better job than him' says former manager http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rc...DnpIB6-FxPCC8jhsw&sig2=hbSKeXGWw_-GY1pmhabBLw Queens Park Rangers must show patience and back manager Mark Hughes. Thatâs the view of former Arsenal and Tottenham boss George Graham ahead of this afternoonâs crucial *Premier League clash with Reading at Loftus Road. The pressure is mounting on Hughes who has so far failed to inspire a *Rangers revival since arriving at *Loftus Road last January. Graham said: âYou have to give Mark Hughes more time. I am not certain that anyone coming in now would be able to do a better job than him. âHe has to be given at least until Christmas or the end of the year to turn the results around. By then, *Rangers would have played most of the clubs once - including those in what I would call the mini-league of around six or seven at the bottom that involves Rangers. You will have a more accurate idea of how the team will do this season.â Despite a massive influx of 16 new players since Hughes succeeded Neil Warnock in January, Rangersâ fortunes have not improved. The clubâs wage bill has soared, but there have been issues beyond results that trouble the Loftus Road *hierarchy. Nine red cards in 27 league games under Hughes have seen QPR emerge as one of the most indisciplined teams in *Premier League history. Rangers only just avoided relegation on the last day of last season and are still without a win in the current campaign. Hughes is fighting to hang on to his job, with owner Tony *Fernandes increasingly concerned at the clubâs plight. Out-of-work Harry Redknapp has been cited as an *immediately available successor to the *Welshman. Graham went on: âFrom what I have seen of Rangers this season, they havenât been playing that badly. *Hughes has done well in *management and he seems very *organised. âI am sure he is working hard in training to organise the *players who have come in since January â that is a lot to arrive in a short space of time. âHe will be used to pressure. He has worked with Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United and been involved at Manchester City, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and was manager of Wales. âThe worst thing that Rangers could do now is panic,â added Graham, who worked as a successful youth team coach at QPR during the Terry *Venablesâs era at the club. âI believe that, if Hughes is given the time, he will get it right.â Meanwhile, Brian McDermott is backing his Reading boys to take the pressure off him by achieving their first league win of the season today.
As opposed to what we did to NW last year around this time? ****in'ell George, did they give you stocks in our team or sumthin'? How much did they pay you to clown for us then, eh? At least with NW we had more than a year's continuity from the previous year winning the Championship and having a few of the same players who wanted to give it a go with the same team!
