I agree, it’s just F1 Politics/trouble making. The F1 driver market has been pretty stale for a while now, so it’s fun to speculate though.

I don’t see Carlos ending up at Merc however - if their ambitions are to get back to the front, he’s too much of a George clone and would want a 3+ year contract given their current level of performance. They either need to get Alonso or take the risk on Kimi Antonelli’s potential imo.

More Horner speculation, are the press trying to milk it or is it real?

They suspended her for dishonesty. Maybe she won't take a payoff and NDA. Maybe Honda and Ford have added opinion. It will need those two to push for Horner to go before he does I think.

I think we all are. It is not going away though. Trying to brush it under the carpet, which it seems is the desire, is proving hard.
If the woman concerned is standing firm, which, if she has been truthful throughout, she needs to, it is a problem that is not easily dissolved away.

Russian racing driver Nikita Mazepin has overturned European Union sanctions imposed as part of the response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Mazepin, who drove in Formula 1 for Haas in 2021, and his father had assets frozen and were given a travel ban.

His father, billionaire businessman Dmitry Mazepin, was deemed a close associate of president Vladimir Putin.

But the EU's general court said the link to his father is not enough for the driver to remain on sanction lists.

It said the "association" criteria used in the sanctions require the existence of a link beyond a simple family relationship.

The 25-year-old was also sanctioned by the UK and Canada in March 2022 - sanctions which remain in place. He is also challenging those rulings in the hope of returning to F1.

Mazepin was sacked by Haas as a result of the invasion.

He owed his seat to sponsorship funding from the Russian chemicals business Uralkali, which is part-owned by his father through his company Uralchem.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem has been FIA president since December 2021

Formula 1's governing body has cleared its president of claims he interfered with races in Saudi Arabia and Las Vegas last season.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem was alleged to have intervened to overturn a penalty for Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

A whistleblower claimed the president told officials not to certify the Las Vegas circuit for last year's race.

The FIA said there was no evidence to support the claims.

"Concerns over potential interference were brought to the attention of the FIA Compliance Officer and subsequently passed to the FIA Ethics Committee," said the FIA in a statement.

"After reviewing the results of the inquiries, the Ethics Committee were unanimous in their determination that there was no evidence to substantiate allegations of interference of any kind involving the FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem."

A "robust and wide-ranging independent review" spanning 30 days, and interviewing 11 witnesses was conducted, the FIA added. which cleared Ben Sulayem "of any wrongdoing".

"The president showed complete co-operation, transparency, and compliance throughout the process during this investigation was greatly appreciated," it said.

Susie Wolff has taken legal action against motorsport's governing body the FIA following its controversial conflict of interest inquiry into her last year.

Wolff is the director of the F1 Academy series for aspiring female drivers and wife of Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff.

Wolff said she had filed "a criminal complaint in the French courts in relation to the statements made about me by the FIA last December".

"There has still not been any transparency or accountability in the relation to the conduct of the FIA and its personnel in this matter," she said.

Wolff added: "I feel more than ever it is important to stand up, call out improper behaviour and make sure people are held to account. While some may think silence absolves them from responsibility - it does not."

Wolff said she had lodged the case in France on 4 March.

The FIA has been approached for a comment.

As a follower of MotoGP, this makes me depressed...

I`ve never seen this before either.A young Ayrton acting very humble, unpretentious and modest.Such a great loss of a fine young man.

I always remember reading about that tragic weekend in Imola after Rubens had a bad crash and Roland died,Sid Watkins said to Ayrton,
"Ayrton, why don`t we just stop and go fishing" Ayrton replied,"Sid,I can`t stop"
It simply proves his total dedecation.
    Thanks for posting Number 1

I thought there were probably some Moto GP followers .

I loved it in the Mick Doohan days for quite a few years until a young up and coming Italian rider got killed in a crash and he spun on the tarmac - his Helmet .

Not sure why , but that really got to me . Still keep an eye on it .

Going back to the post , sadly another example of modern day sport - :emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash:.

F**K the fans / historic circuits :steam:

I believe you're thinking of Marco Simoncelli, in 2011. A terrible incident in several different ways. RIP Marco.

As for the future, I guess one good thing is that MotoGP's safety requirements aren't compatible with street circuits. Unless Liberty 'find a way'.

I don’t think we will see Riccardo next year or Logan Sargeant .

Danny may not make it to the end of the season which would be a shame IMHO .
