A tragedy of epic proportions hit the town of Humboldt Saskatchewan last evening when the bus carrying the local junior hockey team to a playoff game crashed killing at least 14 of the squad, including the manager. It brings sport down to a level where we can all empathise with family and friends of these young hopefuls trying to earn themselves a place in the big leagues and how quickly the euphoria of getting a chance in the playoffs turns to abject tragedy and heartbreak. My thoughts go out to all the people involved in this event and particularly to the family and friends of the deceased and my wishes for a speedy recovery to all the survivors. This has been a major body blow to the hockey world in Canada. R.I.P..
It always a tragedy to read about youg people with their lives in front of them ending this way, just terrible, I can't express a word to descibe the horror their families and friends are going through. RIP.
I am sure that all these young lads were hoping for a professional contract in the NHL and now all of those dreams have been shattered. The whole of Canada is in shock and saddened by this news and the memories of this tragedy will live for a long time.
