Bristol City consider move for former Spanish Under-21 international striker Lee Johnson has turned to Europe in his pursuit of a free agent Bristol City's search for a free agent to bolster their forward options has landed in Spain with the club identifying former Bristol Live understands that the 29-year-old is in Bristol and could feature in this afternoon's behind-closed-doors friendly against Gary Johnson's Torquay United at Failand. There is no guarantee the forward, who has two Spain Under-21 caps, will sign for the Robins as at this stage he is merely on trial. Rodri, who had a brief stint on loan at Sheffield Wednesday during the 2012/13 season, was released by Granada in the summer following their promotion to La Liga. He scored five goals in 33 appearances in the Segunda Division, from 17 starts, and can play as a central targetman or in a deeper role. Rodri started his career with Sevilla before moving to Barcelona B, 1860 Munich in the 2. Bundesliga and then back to Spain with Valladolid, Cordoba and Cultural Leonesa. as a possible addition. Johnson had previously considered Gary Hooper and Wilfried Bony as short-term options to replace Benik Afobe after his ACL injury but a combination of financial considerations and fitness concerns have led them to Rodri. It is thought that Kalifa Cisse's contacts in Spain helped identify the 5ft 10ins forward as an option following internal concerns that the Robins are too light in attack to maintain a promotion challenge, at least until January. Famara Diedhiou, Andi Weimann and Antoine Semenyo is a solid trio but with 14 matches before January 1 and the opening of the winter window, an extra reinforcement will significantly enhance the head coach's options. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/bristol-city-consider-move-former-3430205 https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/bristol-city-take-step-towards-potentially-signing-attacker/

If he is as good a Benik we got a corker. Anybody involved with Barcelona must have something a bit special about them.
OBVIOUSLY NOT been paid a lot, bet he is glad to get some decent wages … will likely spend Friday shopping for a decent pair of jeans ………..!
I’ve no idea what to expect to be honest , best to make judgement once I see him on the flesh. Welcome to our club Rodri, go get em!
I guess we cannot have it both ways - if we wait for the transfer window to open in January club will be criticised for waiting well lots of points on offer, but outside the transfer window very limited talent pool. It will be interesting how this guy does. I am not expecting another Benik, but if he can do a job to January and then see where we are I will be happy
I would have thought the powers that be have well analysed this guy, they must have seen something, he is on a short term contract with the promise of a future if he is good enough, he cost nothing to sign on and he brings an element of maturity and experience to our team. It's a win, win for the player, the team, the management and us the fans, good on LJ.
Pace, penalty box presence and power - What new striker Rodri will bring to Bristol City The former Spanish Under-21 international has joined on a short-term contract https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/pace-penalty-box-presence-power-3435114
Our options are limited , but we are short of bodies in the striker department, if Fam got injured we’d be comply knackered, MA and LJ feel this guy is the best of the free agents available to fit our needs. Lets hope by accident we’ve stumbled on a gem.
What do we have to lose by trying to improve the depth of the squad and our attacking options after the very unfortunate injury to Afobe ? if he doesn't work out then maybe we can look again in January. But meantime, welcome young man, and go and score us some goals.
Unless he really hits the ground running we’ll need to upgrade , when you look at the quality we have throughout the squad now it’s really only a quality striker we are missing, Afobe May have been that man, but circumstances beyond our control put paid to that.
With a contract only till January it really is a no brainer, if he sucks so be it and we Get rid in January and sign someone else however he could turn out to be a bargain
