Might be half decent, can't believe he would come all the way over from Spain if he wasn't seriously being looked at. Am I right in saying that at some point last season either Allen or Hessy went to spain to watch some youth competition or something? Maybe he's from that? Any other keeper is only ever going to be back up for Nelson so it may as well be a kid who can learn.
Martin Allen was on Talk Sport last sunday lunchtime and said that he has had a couple of trips to Spain to watch some young players and a few more planned for during the season!
It was Hessenthaler who went to the Sevilla tournament and invited a couple of the players over for pre-season last year. Im guessing this would have been sent for Allen's approval and obviously must be the only fella that MA approved of.
Yeah, and Martin has been to watch players! He said on the show that the young players abroad are cheaper to bring in than signing from England!
This is slightly unrelated but who is the other goalkeeper in the official team photo on the website? Is it that Gowan guy we have have on trial? Is it a youth goalkeeper? Is it this spanish guy? Does anyone know? Why am I asking so many questions?
gfc1234 I wasn't arguing your point, I was merely answering gfclukey's question which was in reference to the Sevilla tournament. I believe that is Gowans in the picture even though we had a different trialist keeper on tuesday on the bench. From what I can make out it also looks like Harry Grant is part of the team photo http://www.gillinghamfootballclub.com/news/article/gills-photoshoot-day-943700.aspx although the photo is actually larger on the home page. Both Birchall and Lee are in the photo too.
