Would love a win against west ham on the weekend, reading their forums they think their team is much superior to ours and some of them think they will easily win. In my opinion out squad is much better, future England full backs, 2 English strikers who are more than capable of playing for England one day, saying that, lambert should be in it now, but hey ho, woy knows best i take it. Cork would also do a job aswell given the chance. This is a game that we will probably struggle defensively with the amount of long balls coming into the box but if we can cut through their defence early on and score early why not try and put 3 or 4 past them like they did to us, we are more than capable of doing it. Thoughts?

Is this the official Match Day Thread? If it is I like the non-inflammatory title! Perhaps in the interests of balance and fair play it should be Scummers v Spammers?

Anyway, we are due a big win, i.e. 4 or more goals so why not? Craig is right, scoring first is essential, but I am sure Mauricio will have a Spam plan. I'll go 4-1 Saints.

I watched them at the weekend, they looked strong. More so than I expected tbh.

My concern is that they'll bypass the midfield with long balls in order to expose our defense.. And it might just work. :(

We are at home and on a roll, but only takes a moment to lose a match. Nothing is certain...look at the QPR game. However, it's how you do over the whole season that really counts...I'm sure we will finish above them. We have a very bright future. Going for a 2.1 Saints win or a 2.2 draw.

When I was clearing out my loft prior to coming out here I found the programme for the 1967 home game v West Ham. It was our first season in the top flight and we had struggled a bit, but were just looking good. Ron Davies was scoring for fun and Terry Paine was in his pomp. Saints won 6-2 that day. Encore, svp!

We often lose to these type pof teams, and what is the probability for four wins in a row? I'm going for a draw, with us by far the better team, and all depending on how we handle Caroll, and how many Saints players they injure.

Can be, but new ish to this page so don't have a clue how to change the name of the thread! I'm sure someone will come up with a match day thread closer to the game, but by all means if there's a way of changing the name let me know. I'm hoping we don't concede this time been a long time since we kept a clean sheet at home

I was there! One of the stand-out days of that first season in the top flight. Poor old Jim Standen in goal for the Hammers. I remember my dear old dad making a terrible joke as we went back home towards Andover and passed a sign for Chute Standen. "I expect that's what Ron Greenwood would like to do" says Dad. What a day.

I have spent many a pleasant evening drinking and eating in The Hatchet at Chute lovely place. The landlord was an old friend from my youth and his wife did the food. Smashing menu and great meals. Haven't been there for years.

PS I think you would have passed Andover if you saw a sign for Chute Standen as it is nearer to Hungerford and Marlborough.

Sorry there are strict rules for match threads. Like actually including relevant information such as match officials, the form of both teams, team news and making it look fancy, i.e. use of colours, different fonts etc.

3 BC's? Fonte, Jos and Yoshi- crazy idea but would be one way to handle the long balls. No midfield and just have Lambert, J Rod, Guly, and a couple of other tall people up top?!

But you have to start setting it up as the final whistle blows at the previous match and sit poised by the send button if you want to get in first.

Get it done. Saintsweb and the KUMB have had theirs up since yesterday evening and the banter back and forth on loads of threads started before that. We are missing out.

LET'S 'AVE IT (p.s. the title looks like spam the subject i.e. adverts on forums.

To the poster above who says we have the best squad. Sorry they have the better squad BUT we have the far far superior first team and light years ahead manager and tactics.

I'm very prepared to look silly, very prepared to have to show my face if their 1-0 park the bus wins but I think we are really really gonna get them and the crowd are really gonna want this one too.

3-1 for a change :) I will be on straight after the match win or lose. No hiding. BRING IT ON
