Going to speed things along for today as it's a work day for most. Appreciate if the usual suspects can do their match threads for tomorrow after today's matches are over [that means I'm requesting that you make them up on the day :) ]

I can see this being either an easy win for Spain, or a 0-0. Early goal needed.

I'll go for 2-1 Holland. Costa, De Vrij, and Van Persie the goalscorers.

I can see the Dutch being knocked out at the group stage to be honest. Should be a straightforward win for Spain.

Van Gaal was a spurs fan when younger so I expect to see him try and play like ourselves. Which means I'll predict Spain to win.

As explained, we are making separate match threads to avoid confusion. The World Cup thread is intended for other general World Cup chat. Notice that the first one got to over 1100 posts in no time at all, once the competition got closer.

Hmm, it does have an air of inevitability about it, doesn't it. Spain will keep possession for a thousand years and will either win, lose or draw. That's about it.

It is a replay of the 2010 final though, that has to count for something?

On paper the most exciting match of the night, in reality it'll probably wind down into a 0-0 draw while Cameroon, Mexico, Chile and Australia all fight out high scoring thrillers.

This is easily the game I'm least excited for today. Isn't the world cup fun?

Well Spain's tactics seem to be bore the opposition to tears then score. It's effective, but not very interesting for the neutral.

So I'm gonna go for the Netherlands!

There's a psychic piranha called Pele. <laugh> It predicted Brazil to win yesterday and has predicted England to win on Saturday so I'm going with Pele.
