Gareth Southgate will remain as England manager until after the European Championships in 2024, the Football Association has confirmed.

He had said he was "conflicted" about his future in the role after England's quarter-final exit at the World Cup.

The 52-year-old, who was appointed in 2016, led the Three Lions to the World Cup semi-finals in 2018 and a first Euros final in 2021.

His current contract is due to expire in December 2024.

That’s good, who would he even be replaced with?

I think he’s done a brilliant job with England, the progress from Roy to him is clear to see. Some great talents coming through the ranks of England’s youth too.

Sam Allardyce must be as sick as a chip.

100% record as an England manager, about to bring on the greatest, most talented group of players in the world and the powers that be conspire against him.

In an alternative Universe we take the field to secure back to back World Cups this afternoon.

I dread to think where we would be if fat Sam a lard arse hadn't been susceptible to a brown envelope or two
