Just spotted this notification on the southern rail website, the train service between Watford Junction and South Croydon will not stop at Wembley Central between 11.00 ish and 19.00 ish except during the match. http://www.southernrailway.com/southern/news/amendments-to-west-london-line-on-monday-27-may-2013/
"Southern apologises for the inconvenience this may cause." So that makes it alright then - what a mob of tossers!
The trouble with that service is, ever since they extended it to Milton Keynes (which was an error in my opinon) it's standing room only on most trains. You could only squeeze another 50 people in the 4 carriages if youre lucky. The people who are really going to be stymied by the nonstopping is our South London brethren coming up from Clapham Junk.
"In agreement with British Transport Police"??? Southern Railways: We are too cheapskate to put on some extra rolling stock so is it alright if we piss off thousands of glory hunting passengers cos they don't usually travel with us?... they're not customers you see, not real ones, just short term mercenaries as if they're loaning themselves to us... Udinese B have too many loanee types and that nice Mr Holloway doesn't like them either, except that Zaha bloke... but they'll push out all our real customers who use us all the time... BTP: What, make it more difficult than necessary to get to North West London's finest town and totally antagonise thousands of people... oh hang on they're football supporters, one down from cattle... yeah go on then we fancy the overtime, and you don't need the fare revenue! Southern Railways: Cheer's bud, knew you'd understand.
London midland are leaving every 20 mins from platform 4 at the junction tho. 5past, 25past and 1/4 to the hours. They arent direct till after 12, but it should only be 20 mins and wont be as packed if you leave early. I got dads oyster today and topped mine up. So we are set.
Even london midland seem to suggest using alternatives see quote below from their website - Wembley Stadium, Bank Holiday Monday 27 May Championship Play-Off Final Watford v Crystal Palace If you are travelling from London, take the Metropolitan or Jubilee Line to Wembley Park, or Chiltern Railways from London Marylebone to Wembley Stadium station. From Watford, take the Metropolitan Line to Wembley Park or the London Overground from Watford Junction to Wembley Central. Due to engineering works, there will be a limited London Midland service running between Watford Junction and London Euston and we therefore advise fans to use Overground/Underground services where possible. Yeah, right... we don't want the responsibility Tossers... C U oN Tuesday'S their message... Read into it what you will My bet is LUL have been sucked into some into some contractual vortex.. which does not sat much for their legal team, does it now???
It's lucky that I live near, I'll be walking! this is great, because I always go to Watford to see games, now one's right next to me. But train companies need to sort themselves out.
Unfortunately it is not necessarily the "train companies" that are at fault here. Engineering works are the responsibility of Network Rail (the owners of the tracks and infrastructure) and they have the final word on whether tracks will be wholly or partially closed with a resultant affect on the services that use them. These works are normally scheduled over public holiday weekends and the Christmas/Easter periods and are planned months ahead. So it is sod's law Watford are playing at Wembley tomorrow and that the London Midland and Southern services which normally run between Wembley and Watford Junction are affected. I am sure that the train companies would much rather run a normal or even enhanced service.
