There is a couple of Wycombe fans on this site who I get on well with so I will be disappointed for them. But that disappointment is overshadowed by the fact that we get a chance right a massive wrong against them. The farce with the abandoned game which we were not only winning in but dominating as well and it was stopped by their saftey officer. And then they win the replay! Also they are the team who managed to send us down by just 3 goals on goal difference. Im sure our fans will enjoy a good day out at Wycombe where we will go in big numbers.
I watched it. Ex Rovers player Joe Jacobson who is a Wycombe player fouled in the box and ref didnt give the pen. Was a very bad decision. Not many chances where the keepers were tested. Wycombe had the better 1st half and Southend had the better 2nd half. Extra time Wycombe looked more likely to score and win and they did score and could have got another too but in added time of extra time Southend scored to take it to pens. A lot of Southend fans left before the goal thinking it was over. The camera showed a lot of fans running back towards the stadium after they heard a roar for the goal Their attendance was 38,252. There was over 47k in our game! Seen this on twitter... top pic is our game and the bottom pic is todays game.... please log in to view this image
Some of the Wycombe fans were saying they weren't ready to go up. I think Southend will do well next season, although they had a poor game today.
Dale Jenkins, the Wycombe Wanderers Supporter & Trust Board Director, just posted this on twitter.... He sounds a bit scared!
I don't see what the obsession is with playing Wycombe in our first game. We will play them twice at some stage in the season so there will be the chance to 'right those wrongs'. I wanted Southend to win yesterday, but I don't dislike Wycombe as a club.
What wrongs are these anyway? You beat Wycombe when you went down (The abandoned game was the year before wasn't it?) It was the other 22 clubs you had problems with
Think you are right. Rovers beat us in the second to last game. Rubbed our noses in it with the comments afterwards and then managed to lose to Mansfield. Personally I am glad you got back up quickly as if you don't do it first time the rot can start to set in. In my view a club the size of Rovers shouldn't be languishing in non league football. looking forward to the games and the banter next season!
What a highly satisfying weekend of Wembley football, especially today with Swindon getting their asses handed to them by PNE. Only quality teams succeed at Wembley, eh Mowgli?
Me too. But keep the "special" git at home I think we should take you to court for copying our style of kits!
Baldee, I have mixed opinions about Swindon. Half of me is very happy that they lost because I cant stand them and a rival of course. But would like to have seen them go up because City and them can carry on their rivalry from this season.
