Away Facilities: Away fans are housed in the North Stand, which is all-seated. The view can be obstructed by a number of pillars although a large following can generate an excellent atmosphere. Away fans usually drink in the Blue Boar pub which is located on the main Victoria Road, just up from the ground How To Get There: Leave Bristol along the M4 and join the M25. From the M25 take Junction 29 and follow the A127 to Southend. Continue towards the town centre, through the lights near to the Bell Pub. At the next roundabout turn right (3rd turning), continuing on the A127. The ground is on the right just past the next traffic lights. If you turn right as you reach the ground, this will put you behind the away end where there is plenty of street parking to be found.* SatNav: SS26NQ please log in to view this image
Not really sure we will get anything from this game maybe we could hold out for a draw we were well beaten on Tuesday at Bradford a sign maybe that now all the players are all burnt out and tired and in need of a well earned rest had we played the game when it was originally scheduled I think we would of sneaked a win or a draw. Our record at Roots Hall is very poor so that never helps .So I'm going for..... Southend 2 - 1 The Gas Gas Scorer - Broghammer Gasheads Travelling - 450 I will be happy with 6pts from are last 3 games.
TEAM NEWS Bristol Rovers defender Danny Woodards was stretchered off in the 4-1 defeat by Bradford on Tuesday and will be out for nine months with a knee injury. Oumare Tounkara and Ellis Harrison were not fit to face the Bantams but should be available on Saturday, while Tom Parkes returns from suspension. VIEWS FROM THE TRAINING GROUND Bristol Rovers manager John Ward told BBC Radio Bristol: "Every game is a test for us and a situation we've got to try and come through. "Saturday will be a difficult game because Phil [Brown] will have them wound up. "He'll want them to finish their season strongly just like I want my side to."
Manager on Saturday's game It will be the end of a long week for our opposition when Rovers take on Southend at Roots Hall this weekend. The Shrimpers lost in the final of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy on Sunday at Wembley, before suffering defeat at the hands of Rochdale on Wednesday night. But it will be another tough test for Rovers on the road. Manager John Ward said: “It is a big week for them, originally the game was Friday night, but they played last night so we have readjusted to Saturday. “They also had the cup final last Sunday, so it is a big baptism of fire for Phil Brown going in there. “We have got to go and see how we can deal with them. They have been there or thereabouts on the edge of getting into the play offs all season, so we will see where we stand against them. “Saturday will be a difficult game, as Phil will wind them up and want them to do really well at home and finish their seasons strongly, in the same way that I do.” The manager was without a number of key players on Tuesday night, but he was impressed with Ollie Clarke who came on for the injured Danny Woodards. John said: “We have had a bit of strength missing from the team, my two strikers are 19 year old boys, my two midfielders are 19 and 20 and they have got to grow up quickly and come of age. “Every game is a test and even though we lost the game relatively heavily, we stuck at the task as strongly as we could. “For every bad situation, it opens up opportunities for other people, and that is life. Ollie Clarke was the midfield boy on the bench and I had to stick him in there. “He himself is on his way back from injury, and I thought he did very well. I was very pleased with him. “To be suddenly thrown into that sort of game, he showed a lot of composure on the ball, and showed me what he can do at first team level.” And there will be a couple of players back available for Saturday’s game. “Tom Parkes will be back available, and we have Oumare Tounkara back training today. “Ellis Harrison is not training today, but should be on the coach going across to Southend.” And for John the message to his players remains the same – try and win the last three games. He said: “The challenge is to try and win the last three games – which is what we have been trying to do all the way through. "I have no reason to change the way I want to try and play, and these boys work really hard for me, and did that again on Tuesday. “I have no grumbles about their work ethic, we just weren’t good enough on the night. We have to be as positive as we can.” And the manager says that plans for the future are underway: “Talks are being had with some of the players, myself and the Chairman, so we are trying to plan ahead. We are making those plans and have already started doing that.”
When was the last time we won away at Southend? Like 1920 or something I think at best a score draw, especially now the play offs are out of the question
score draw.... 1-1 brunt they are on bad form and we have a weak midfield now. parkes is back so if he goes back in defence, i think we will be strong at the back and it will be hard for them. i would play.... ------------mildenhall--------------- smith-parkes-mcchrystal-brown richards-clarke-norburn-hammer ---------tounkara-brunt------------
Blues boss wants his side to finish the season strongly, starting against Bristol Rovers Phil Brown is determined for Blues to end the season strongly, starting with a win against John Ward’s Bristol Rovers at Roots Hall on Saturday. The play-offs may now be out of the equation for Blues following a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Rochdale on Wednesday evening, but the Blues boss wants his side to put on a good showing against Rovers, and for the remainder of the campaign. He said: “There’s still four games left in the current season and four more games for the players to show me what they can do. “I was impressed by the 90 minutes against Bradford, the second-half against Fleetwood, the first-half against Rochdale and about 70 minutes against Crewe at Wembley. “I’ve only been in charge of one home and I can tell there’s a little bit of anxiousness from the players when they are playing at Roots Hall but it’s up to me to find out why that is and put it right. “We’ve got two home games and two away games remaining, it’s all about consistency. This season, we are probably a top four away team but a bottom four home team. “We don’t just want the season to just fizzle out and it would be great to put on a show for the home fans, it’s important we put in a good performance for them. “Our aim now is simple. We want to go and win the remaining four games we have left this season.” Brown will also make a couple of changes on Saturday to cast his eye over some of the others in the squad, but he says the side that goes out will be more than capable of winning the game. He added: “There will be a couple of new faces coming into the team for the game against Bristol Rovers, that’s for sure. “It will give me a chance to see a couple of players I haven’t seen as much of so far and give them a chance to impress. “It’s not my team at the moment, but it’s giving me a chance to see who impresses and who will be part of the team next season. “That’s not to say the team that I put out there won’t be capable of winning the game, because we’ve got a good squad here and some very good players.”
