This was Argyles best chance of beating Southend away for awhile.......With two regular defenders out injured. A makeshift defences was adequate to keep Plymouth at bay......a shortage of goals was yet again in evidence with are goal shy attack. Keeping our successful loanees seems to be falling apart with news that possibly a second one..... O'Connor is going back to his home club......that leaves only Kellett who would possibly be going back anyway. We are desperate for some replacements to strengthen this weakened team......help.
On this occasion no green tinted anything. I listened to this on the radio for most of the match. We could have stollen a result and we could have lost in the same breath. We got a bit battered in the last period but we held out with the new boy playing well enough by the sound of it. I agree with lyndhurst that this was a decent point against Southend. They are above us and we were the away side. I would have taken a point before kick off as would most of us I suspect. Next week is another test but we are at home. Would want 3 points from that one and one point would be an absolute second best minimum. A bit of a gap opening up again to the automatic places. I haven't looked at pasoti this evening but suspect there are quite a few who are relieved at the Exeter result today. I have to say I thought they would be above us now and I didn't see that one coming.
Ordinarily, a point away like this would be a good thing but we're going through a bad patch, partly affected by injuries and suspensions, after a good run. Good news is that we are still in with a shout with a tough game at home to come but followed by 3 very winnable ones, so all is not lost by any means. We need to Keep It Green and hope the January window works well. I have to say I love Kellett (in a manly way). Every game you get some League 2 opponent who thinks that because he's 15 yards away, there's plenty of time to control the ball. Kellett then warps over at Factor 5 and the ball's gone before he knows what's hit him. Pace like that is tantamount to cheating. By the time someone's shouted "man on", Kellett is 2 parsecs away. That's 38 trillion miles for non-Star Trek fans. If I've told you once, I've told you a million times, don't exaggerate.
Again would have taken a point there but I'd say a win next week is a must....don't need any unrest with the fans at this point of time.
Think the majority believe a point was a good return on this one hp so haven't seen much in the way of unrest. We have wobbled over Christmas period but have a chance to get back on track now even if the next one is a bit of a toughie.
