I was discussing this today, and wondered what the popular opinion is. This is the overall best player, taking into account everything, such as ability, consistency, influence, and form.
Overall, who is Southampton FC's best player?

Lambert, closely followed by Lallana, Schneiderlin and Cork

I completely agree with that, except I would put Gaston above Cork. Possibly above Morgan too, but his consistency appears to let him down. I think the jury is still largely out on him though.

Hmmm this is a tough one. Technically Ramirez is our best player but he hasn't been in great form and isn't our most valuable player. I think will go for Lambert.

Ramirez is the most able, but Rickie and Morgan, followed closely by Lallana, are the best for us.

All right, who voted for Guly?

Agree completely with this, though based on recent form I'd be tempted to put Cork and Schneiderlin ahead of Lallana.

Certainly a good case to be made for Morgan, but Rickie is threatening in so many different ways.

I voted for Lambert. I was torn between him and Schneiderlin.

Currently Schneiderlin. In about 2-3 years probably Shaw. Good thread though, interesting to see the different opinions.

Voted Rickie because he is important on so many levels, but have to give an honourable mention to Jack. The improvement in results coincided with his return from injury.

Depends on what you mean by best, best at what? Morgan for me as it stands at the moment, but it is only by a very thin margin.

I was going to vote for Guly and then thought no it has to be Lickie Rambert but in the end I decided it could be no one other than our marvelous Frnchman. Not that my opinion was influenced in any way but had I not done so I would not be having any breakfast this morning!

Morgan is our best player in what he does. I think in a couple of years time he will be such a complete midfielder that i see the likes of Real being interested.
