Watching them v WBA ,they've got big problems at the back but look dangerous going forward (no end product for them yet though) muscled off the ball and generally very naive , 2-0 down with 30 minutes to go ,another drain on their confidence .When we start playing little one twos around their area I can see us causing them problems and hopefully positive result for us

Watching the game off and on. Southampton have a lot of huff and puff but no real incisive passing(until they ****ing well play us obviously!) their defence is real iffy at times but i also think WBA look like a great team this season, i think WBA are safe this year no problem at all, crdit to steve clark.

You will have no problem against our defence dont you worry. Like a sunday league team currently, 3 new defenders short of a good prem team. Couple of attacking players playing out of position/not match fit yet also.

Our defensive problems no doubt helped by fact we seem to be rotating three keepers! Just the kind of stability a shaky defence needs

Yes, but when they cant defend in the first place the keeper dosn't really matter now does it.

Make no mistake it will be a difficult game - irrelevant of how Southamptons results have gone so far. They will win a game at some point. I'd take a 1 nil win for us right now and be very happy about it.

Well it could be a game of iffy defences!! its possible we will have only 2/5 of our defence playing on saturday!!

Southampton seem to be doing everything right but never get the rub of the green! its a bit weird i have to say. no matter what, im under no illusions about saturday ,its gonna be a real tough game for us and one you will be targeting 3pts from as well.

WBA are safe by the looks of it so that leaves us,you,Norwich,Reading,Villa, wigan and maybe Sunderland to battle it out in the mini league,i think west ham will also fall into the bottom 3rd. If we can get 3pts from you then i can see us pushing on again and maybe we could aim for mid table like last year, it all hinges on how we can perform against you guys, our record against teams like Norwich is not great , i put Southampton in the same bracket, plenty of power and pace and can also play plenty of good football. it will be intresting.

    Hard luck tonight <ok>

How can you forget the lovely QPR lot?

Southampton have had some hard lines so far and have already come up against both Manchester clubs, both North London clubs, Everton and a bloody good looking West Brom.
I am concerned about Saturday, but as I mentioned on another thread, although they will be targetting us for 3 points, I think they won't be as inspired to raise their game against us as they do against the big boys...here's hoping anyway :emoticon-0184-tmi:

They are going to be after our midfield from the word go! they will try to close down the spaces and do what alot of teams try and do, the first 20mins will be very important if we can give them something to worry about in that time then we may be able to get on our midfield game and start to control things, they look a game side and they can cause us problems up front so it wont be plain sailing

I've said several times on different threads that Southampton are not going to stand off and allow us to get our passing patterns going. We will have to compete for everything for the entire game and hope that our greater experience and class will eventually come through. With no disrespect, it's a game we should win but if the lads don't remain focused and fight their corner from the first whistle, we will have problems.
