I think perhaps the Dolphin, not sure though, my L driver experience, after Sunday gardening chores, was my Dad and brother having me drive them on tiny narrow roads to a pub in the middle of nowhere for a bunch of beers, darts and bar billiards, my brother drove home for a fine leg of lamb Sunday roast, with a stop off at the off licence in Weeke to pick up a nice red wine.

That sounds more like the Plough at Sparsholt.

I think you might be right, what a trip down memory lane in the age of Innocence. With pub trips my Dad wouldn't allow me to have a motorcycle, after a school chum (Simon Herring) was killed two weeks after getting his, attempting to pass a truck, but he did allow me full car privileges, line your stomach with milk son, he would tell me, don't drink more than 2.5 pints of beer (the legal 80mg/100ml limit), here's the car keys and have fun driving your mates.

Good times, Kilburn. There’s a pint waiting for you should you ever pass this way again.

Well, my partner really wants to come to the UK and witness the R's in person, with a day out at Loftus Road!

A follow-up on the topic of "car driving privileges", I recall once in Dad's Vermilion Red Rover 2000 TC getting it stuck in the mud, deep in the New Forest, late at night on a girlfriend excursion. Luckily I spun it out (RWD) and the car was none the worse for wear. At least in those days, with no cell phones, there was nobody bugging you (possibly Dad) as to where the hell you were in my car!
