This will be a tough game, we have usually struggled at this ground, recently, and even from a decade ago, we've never found it easy there. But considering we just beat City, we can afford to get a draw.
We usually struggle here but...Southampton have been playing some dire stuff this season. We should be able to win this. IMO Bournemouth (with the form they are in) will be the bigger test.
If we can take all three points in this fixture then we have two very winnable games at home against Bournemouth and Newcastle coming up. That could put us in a very strong position ready for a difficult run of fixtures through January with us going away to Liverpool and Stoke followed by a home game to Chelsea who may well have turned a corner by then in terms of performances. It'll be important to pick up maximum points through the busy festive period. Leicester play away at Liverpool, at home against city and away to Tottenham over there next four fixtures so are likely to drop at least some points. So top spot I think could well open up over the next few games if we are able to get the results.
Not been your happiest of hunting grounds. You haven't won here since we returned to the PL unless I'm mistaken. I know we're out of form badly but it would be foolish to underestimate us. Barring the 6-1 at your place we've done quite well against you in recent years.
No offence meant. I'm just buzzing from last night and would have said the same if we were facing any club in the world next
Yeah, this isn't going to be as easy as some may think. I think we've had 2 draws + 1 loss at St Mary's since you got promoted back to the Prem and in each game, you've pretty much outplayed us. Although you're 12th in the league at the moment, you still have players that can cause us some serious damage. Mane, Pelle, Tadic etc. It's gonna be a tricky game, especially without Sanchez again and after some players admitted they were virtually running on empty last night, but I think we are more than capable of winning.
Southampton are a shadow of the side they were last season. Whilst there's never a given 3 points in any game, I'd back us to win this one. Even without Sanchez, Cazorla and Coquelin, we're playing really well.
I think it'll be a draw (which is still not a bad result). I've gone for a win in the prediction league based on my Arsenal bias, but for whatever reason, we don't seem to enjoy going to St Mary's and Walcott in his post-match interview last night pretty much admitted the players ran out of steam in the last 15 minutes. They've also had an extra two days to rest which will suit them big time.
We will still have had 4 days rest, which is longer than most CL games, so we should be okay for this game.
We certainly are not at our best at present, but we do have a decent record against you at St Marys. Were many of you present at the 2-2 draw a couple of seasons ago? That was a cracking game of football! I would settle for a game like that again.
Really tough game this. There's never a given in the EPL (bar Villa this season ) and Southampton have some really tidy players. I always worry slightly when a team is in a bit of a rut that they look at your Arsenal's/United's and Citeh's as games they'll raise themselves for and prove how decent they can be. It's hard to kick-start a stuttering campaign against the middle of the road sides like Liverpool, Spurs and Watford..... but the top and bottom games are the ones which get the hopes up. I quite like Southampton too so maybe I'm being optimistic but I can see this result easily going any way. I'm actually more pessimistic about this than I was vs Citeh whiere I thought we'd draw at worst. Going to say we'll scrape an ugly win though. Quite fancy Joel to score too. Stick with the same starting line-up unless we've injuries obviously.
