However, on the back of a much-changed side defeating West Ham United in the FA Cup, the Saints have produced two below-par performances, succumbing to Aston Villa and Newcastle United respectively. Southampton could only get better having succumbed 4-0 at Villa, but Ralph Hasenhuttl witnessed his team give up a lead to lose 2-1 at home to the Magpies on Thursday night. Before the setback earlier this week, Southampton had not lost at St Mary's since a defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers all the way back on September 26. please log in to view this image While belief has been drained from this Southampton squad, it is nothing in comparison to Watford who look like they are heading back to the Championship. Roy Hodgson was left visibly frustrated as his side went 3-0 down inside 21 minutes in the Thursday evening game, Watford contributing to their own downfall with an own goal and a glaring error from goalkeeper Ben Foster. Quite where he goes from here is a puzzle, with a similar team producing a good performance one game, building some hope, to the most dismal display the next. please log in to view this image Our Officials Referee: Graham Scott. please log in to view this image Assistants: Simon Long, Matthew Wilkes. Be a start if we can avoid making errors to gift goals away . I don’t think the players aren’t trying or don’t care as claimed ( I mean they obviously were v Villa, Man U and Arsenal ) but they are making a lot of silly basic mistakes which prove costly then clearly their confidence and morale dips .
Southampton will have one eye on next weeks cup tie potentially? Will the team who played at Villa,Man U or Burnley and Arsenal turn up or the one v Wolves/Brighton /Palace?
Pedro, Hernandez, Dennis up front is probably our most mobile option available although I think that King holds the ball up better than any of them. Scapegoat? Kucka.
Well isn’t he just an older Cleverley? Seems to be the best place for our players is to not play then they get liked until they do .
The last time we were at St Mary's, it was Quique Sanchez Flores' final game before he was sacked. A James Ward-Prowse free kick sealed a 2-1 win for the hosts after Ismaila Sarr had opened the scoring that day.
