Rooney might be back. And with the players playing with more confidence should be a great game. Bring it on. 1-2 United
This will be an interesting game despite Sothampton getting done by City there's no doubt that they are a good team.
Not a one man team as we can still win without him ie last night. But RVP and Falcao are still off the pace so against the better teams we need Rooney to keep their defence busy as well as linking up midfield and attack. He's a much better and more important player than all non-United fans think. Whilst Valencia and particularly Young have been doing a job, I'll be much happier when Rafael and Shaw are fit. Can you imagine playing Sterling and Lallana as your fullbacks?
Better than Johnson. The Rooney debate is interesting, I don't think he's all that but as you point out I wouldn't. However there is also a split within Utd fans, there's a lad I have a chat with about footy some lunch times in work and he's a Utd fan and travels up to most games, he's not a big fan of Rooney and he's mentioned that there are heated debates about him on the way to OT some rate him some don't.
Looking forward to this game next week, Di Maria out is a big plus for us, hopefully Rooney will be to, don't understand how anyone can not rate him really.... I think it's about time we beat you at home again, we haven't beat you since getting back to the PL. Think we're due a win against you I will be back to this thread at some point, but we have the small matter of a trip to the Emirates first!
I hope the match is abandoned due to a stadium invasion by Chelsea fans, and all three clubs are subsequently docked 15 points. Tho' I think we'd still somehow manage to only come fifth if that happened...
You know what mate, the biggest problem with this debate is Rooney must be either "world class" or "pretty average/****" - where the truth is he is neither. When you consider the potential talent he was 11 years ago and his natural ability and compare him to say Ronaldo who came through roughly the same time and the progression he made, you could literally see around 2008 when Ronaldo went forward and Rooney's game plateaued. Is that disappointing? Ofcourse. Does that mean he's average? Nowhere near it mate. Is he still one of the best forwards in his position? Ofcourse. He just never reached his full potential. He is a very very good number 10 who's ability and what he brings to our game often goes unnoticed UNTIL he is not playing. Yesterday's match against Stoke a great example of that. He underpins nearly all of our attacks.
And for that reason Treble, the lad is in the world class catagory. He would improve almost any side if not all. He would be a massive asset regardless of where he played and hes had plenty of suitors in his time. I just dont get how people can consider him anything less than world class. He ticks every box.
Good post, I think people get hung up on just that at the end of the day he's one of the best players in the PL and when fit is a top performer for you. He's not the greatest player in the world but he seems to have found a home in Utd no matter how strained that link is at times.
