All three are top players, but not exactly the kinds of players we need.

He may have been watching one of them, but frankly this is a joke article. Hooper and Forster have been linked to us before so maybe it's one of them, and Wanyama is good, so maybe it's him. Maybe it's none of them. Caught offside clearly have no idea.

I think we need a new transfer rumour thread perhaps!

I may be trotting out an ill-informed comment here, but I would have thought that players from Celtic are no longer a significant step up.

Forster is an exceptional goalkeeper, and is just about the only keeper within our reach that would probably displace Boruc.

Wanyama is a phenomenal talent, I'd heard the smart money was on him going to United. A defensive midfield partnership of him and Schneiderlin would be extremely strong.

    Hooper - meh.

Do you not think Wanyama would be an upgrade on Cork?

I think the time for a dedicated Summer transfer rumour thread is nearly upon us!

In general? Perhaps (though they still see relative success in Europe). Doesn't mean they can't have individuals who would be an improvement though.

Yeah I see the old one has been bumped up... we really need a fresh one!

The only issue I can see is if we start now we will be on "Summer 2013 Transfer Rumour Thread Mk 31" by the time the 1st September comes around!

As soon as the season finishes the rumour mill seems to go into overdrive, I suppose we should wait until then! At the moment there isn't too much flying round and even if it had weight its unlikely any of the details of a deal would be thrashed out before then.

Yeah, perhaps. Pretty scary to think that Wanyama and Schneiderlin is one of the best central midfield pairings that any team could put together, and yet it's considered realistic that little Southampton could do it. I reckon he'll end up at United though. Not that I'm too concerned about that position as Cork is excellent anyway, and I think it's more of a priority that we sign someone to compete for Gaston's position.

Transfer rumour thread would be good. Summer is closing in and I'm getting excited.

Sod it, I've started one, up and running!

Better than having a new thread for every rumour!

Celtic could sell all three and still win the SPL! They won't sell their three best players, Hooper's basically a slightly better version of Sharp, so I think we can do better; Wanyama is really good, but if Davis plays the AM role then we may need another CM for depth, I think JWP will go out on loan if this happens. If Ramirez turns out to be the player he can be then he'll have the number 10 role and dislodge Davis to the bench, making the Wanyama transfer less needed. Despite being England's number two (IMO), a second choice goalie isn't that important and Davis is competent enough to play that role; Gazzaniga should replace him in a few years after being loaned out.

Can't see it happening. They have Champions League football with Celtic. If any of them were tempted we'd have to guarantee that they would be starting every game.

No manager would tie his hands by agreeing to that. Takes away the competition between players.

Wanyama is a different player to Ramirez and Davis.

That's why I said he'd play CM, probably replacing Cork. If we were to play Cork, Schneiderlin and Davis in the same team then we'd not have a more defensive midfielder to bring on (assuming JWP is loaned out next season).

We've been tremendously lucky with injuries this year. In fact, that may well be a huge understatement. We need depth and Hooper and Wanyama would certainly add that, as well as increasing competition for places. Had Boruc not just signed, all three may have been realistic prospects, regardless of the source.

I don't get our obsession with Celtic though. Has NC got a holiday home in Glasgow? We've seemingly been chasing Hooper for two years & now another couple of players are on the list.

I think we are deluding ourselves if we think we can second guess Nicola...perhaps we should just lean back and see who runs out onto the pitch next season.
