Having read it and also viewed Kelvin's full interview on SaintsPlayer, it certainly feels like there is a bit of sensationalism going on here.
Haven't looked on saintsplayer yet but from the interview on BBC it sounds more like "was right to appoint poch" rather than "was right to sack adkins". They've put a spin on it in an attempt to create friction before tomorrows match. Rubbish.
What a load of ****e .... would a player as profesional as Kelvin come out & say this publicly? He didn't even mention the sacking, keeping his thoughts private (as he should) and all he merely said was the new manager is right, and is doing a good job. Hate the ****ing media sometimes.
Completely twisted. The comments are ridiculous as well. As much as I loved Adkins, Pochettino is improving performances and results here.
Last Saturday, on MOTD, the pundits were commenting on Saints latest win against Chelsea, and Gary Lineker said something which almost brought a collective sigh of relief to the football media. He said something along the lines of.., so changing a manager [who is already doing well and at the particular time that Saints did] can improve a team..? He was backed up by Shearer, who also explained how Saints were better. It kind of gave every pundit permission to fall behind the MOTD crowd, because now they're all saying it. We're not winning by fluking it. We're playing better and it's official..! Of course, us dunderheads knew it all along.
Saints, after initial blip, were starting to play well under Adkins, but it is clear that we are playing more exciting and effective football under Mauricio. I'm glad SKD put that spin on it rather than criticise Nigel.
I was a sceptic but I admit I was wrong. We do look better now as a team and im starting to love poch. Im not sure kelvin needed to say that tho but I get why he has.
I was very unhappy with the sacking of Adkin's, still am. But I never understood why Poch became a target of ridicule for some, a friend of mine who is also a saints fan was quick to call Poch a number of assorted swear words and mentioned that he was in bad form before being sacked at Espanyol. But I knew not to cave in to pressure and start criticizing him before he had a single game. I admit I did fear for our safety after the QPR game, and I don't think we are out of the mire yet, but I feel an awful lot more confident now than I have done all season. In many ways I feel its a shame both us and Reading can't win tomorrow, but there can only be one winner and I really hope its Saints.
I can understand Davis' not being particularly happy under Adkins since we have arrived in the Premiership with his keeper rotation policy but he mainly states that under the new manager players are improving which is hardly ground breaking but you always get twists on these things.
Every single sports website is running with this exact headline but kelvin didn't actually say that, he said that Cortese didn't get it wrong, not that it was a correct/fair decision.
