I'm heading over to Southampton for the Burnley game in a few weeks, bringing my girlfriend over for her first match. I've been over with the lads and we've eaten in Tang's which was good and a few other places but I want to show her a really good time so need some suggestions! I ate in the Dockgate 4 when it was still called that and I loved it but it is the Grand Cafe now, has anybody eaten there? Fire them at me, some google maps or websites would be good too. Cheers in advance! COYR
McDonalds is good as always! - subway is **** (wait until Scneiderlin is the goal king appears on here) Nicks on Eaststreet is normally quite good, if your err planing a "romantic" day with Mrs NorthernIrishSaint
Why take your girlfriend to a football match? ****ing ridiculous decision. However back to restaurants, all depends what food you're after. Indian: Corriander Lounge is pretty decent Chinese: Mr Chan's Normal Food: Oxfords The white star do decent food, as do a couple of other places on oxford street, La Lupa isn't too bad either. Southampton's pretty limited but you should find one of these suits you.
Nando's in West Quay - getting good reviews ! Its a Mexican I think that sells mainly chicken dishes. http://www.nandos.co.uk/
They grow the "beef" for McDonalds in vats I think. I'm not a Southampton native and live 50 miles away so can't really help with where is actually good. The Gamekeeper at East Woodlands used to be superb, at least it was when I was the Landlord and running the kitchen
For quality for money and especially if your looking for somewhere which looks a bit pricey but not if you paying - kutis Thai pier but book in advance as they get busy on the weekend! It's fantastic and a real nice evening but does remind me of being wrapped inside a big purple quality street!!!
I'm not too familiar with the delights of Southampton but there are some good eating places in Winchester, which is also a nice historical town although quite small. It has some nice pubs as well. You can easily get a train from Southampton central to Winchester which should take about 15 minutes. There is a very good steakhouse (Porterhouse), fish restaurant (Loch Fyne) and French (Raymond Blanc Brasserie). All of those are in Jewry Street and expensive especially Blanc's. Also along Jewry St are Chinese and Thai restaurants and in the high st there are a couple of places for pasta. At the bottom of the town there is a tapas bar. If any of the above is of any help and you want more info let me know.
All of Blanc's restaurant's are the nuts. Got one a 5-10 minute walk away. Great food, great service and the waitresses are stunning. Also fairly easy.
I've been over loads of times with the lads and always wanted to bring a girl instead. We are spending Friday to Sunday night so we'll get a lot fitted in! Looking forward to it.
Nice to see a fair few Subway lovers ! Can't live without having one for over 2 weeks. I have wayyyy too many points on my subcard
