Southampton are interested in signing Sunderland striker Connor Wickham, the Daily Mail reports. The 21-year-old striker has scored just six goals for the Black Cats and spent much of last season on loan with Championship sides Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United. Wickham returned late on in the season to fire Gus Poyet's side to safety with an impressive run of form but the target man could be moved on with just one year left on his contract. Sunderland could be prepared to make a loss on the man they paid Ipswich Town £8m for back in 2011 with a bid in the region of £6m likely to be accepted. New Southampton boss Ronald Koeman is also said to be keen on bringing Nathan Redmond to St Mary's, according to the Telegraph. Redmond, 20, would also cost the club around £6m with Norwich relunctantly willing to let him leave following relegation as long as they make a healthy profit after paying just £2.2m for the winger last summer. Southampton have identified a need to add pace to their attack and are ready to offer Redmond a quick return to the Premier League with an official bid expected in the coming weeks. Wickham and Redmond could be the next young English talents to flourish at St Mary's after the recent departures of Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana. Koeman has already added Dusan Tadic to his squad after a transfer from FC Twente while Feyenoord striker Graziano Pelle also expected to agree a deal soon. On a side note, i wouldnt mind us making a swoop for Redmond.
sign him to a new deal and tell them to **** off. our squad is threadbare as it is we cant afford to lose more. plus we are only now starting to see what he's about, there's no way we should sell unless he refuses to sign a new deal
Whicks holds all the cards, well done, whoever is or was in charge of yet another shambles, we must have one of the worst records in the premier leagues history, for buying expensive and selling cheaply or worse still watching them just walk away for free.
