This is really strange. He's not exactly a very good hockey coach, let alone football, so are we really employing him as nothing more than an inspirational speaker?

Have they got the right person? See message #38 on The New Chief Executive thread, the spelling is different.

Don't know very much about him, other than he is a very smart person. I know the Swiss team really played above themselves under him, working as a very efficient unit. Kind of a sum of their parts sort of thing.

He's going to be on the board though right? Probably more as an advisory for team development and training side stuff. His motivational ideas actually align quite nicely with Poch's tactical ones so I'm not fretting about it.

Krueger is simply how they spell Krüger without the umlaut. I'm guessing that original post omitted the umlaut but didn't add the 'e'.

Also, who says he's not a very good hockey coach? That looks like a pretty impressive CV to me.

Reading the Guardian article, doesn't seem to bad. I like his emphasis on team spirit etc, although Poch has done a fine job in that regards and I'm not sure how Kruegers role would be implemented into this. Certainly don't want a Woodward scenario! I would of loved to be a fly on the wall for that Monday meeting! Apparently she received a round of applause at the end!

Thing is, if Les is on the board, receiving an expanded role (as has been reported), and they want to keep Poch, then there is a drastically reduced chance of crackpot bullshit occurring. Plus, I'm really not sure Kat is the type. Hell, maybe they want a motivational manager for admin-side!

To be honest I feel BETTER that he's not been a great ice hockey coach. Means his advisory role with Canada (and lets not downplay that position, that puts him as an advisor to a team of some of the best athletes on the planet, with a country that takes the Winter Olympics very seriously) is as he clearly has something they want. It's no PR nonsense.

Only concern with this is that I hope he doesn't tread on MP's toes at all.....

Good points. I hope you are right. I don't have a bead feeling about this. To be honest, I'm feeling better all round Since Kat has started to state her intentions.

Les is there, they want to keep Poch, he's a smart guy and no wild self promoter, he won't. Worst case scenario is we pay him and he makes no difference and then leaves.

May be personally known to KL (as was Nicola)...there is the German/Swiss link, if that isn't 2+2 making 5. We had a motivational speaker in preseason which was a big hit with the lads. He could be being brought in for different strengths....sometimes people do change direction in their career. A wait and see appointment...hope the CEO is confirmed soon.

I'm not sure there's a lot to this 'motivational speaker' angle. He's clearly got other skills.

It really is true then? I almost didn't post it out of my own disbelief!

Well, who knows. I don't know why there'd be disbelief though. He's obviously got something about him if he's working for the Canadian winter olympics team.

Can't see that side of his CV being enough to get him on the board of a football club. You hire motivational speakers as you need them. There will be a lot more to him.

Betty Boothroyd, a highly respected parliamentarian started as a Tiller girl, but it didn't define her whole career.
