Er, I think you mean Dyke, shall I edit your title Fran?

On the point of the article, the writer is forgetting we have one of the best academies in Europe to help us with our home-grown requirements.

Not really. It just means we will get bigger bids for our 16/17yr olds, instead of our 18yr olds.

We have to fear as much as any other team regarding quotas.

Only we have to fear a lot less in general because we produce superior homegrown players. I mean, if everyone is limited to a certain amount of foreign imports, the the team with better homemade players will stand out. And that's us.

We have lost 3 'home grown' players (that we might have hoped to include in our quota for years) this summer to rivals and have replaced them and built up our squad mainly from abroad. We aren't buying in the massive stars, but are using our excellent scouting system to get relatively cheap but quality foreign players. The suggestion is that we will be hampered if we intend to carry on doing this. The fact that SFC have been the main objectors to the new system suggests we consider it does us no favours....just like the limitations on spending that Nicola objected to. I suspect we'll just learn to live with it.

How do we know we are the main objectors?

The article mentions it more than once, obviously doesn't mean it's true but that's why people are assuming we are.

I just can't see we would be. If anything it would stop a lot of our young english players being poached.

Maybe that's what it is, maybe the club feel that selling academy players at inflated prices will help us stay ahead of similar sized clubs in terms of FFP?

Not saying that's what I think is happening, just speculating.

Or encourage big clubs to buy them to fulfil their quota...could make it harder to hold on to them.

Doubt it now with the crazy money coming in from the Prem rights. I would have agreed with you a a few years back.

So we have to sell youngsters to avoid problems with FFP...whilst holding on to them at the same time to avoid quota problems. o_O
