Football fans throughout the country have been puzzling over press reports regarding Southampton FC for while their club always seem to come against clubs when they are playing at their best Southampton are so lucky that they always seem to be playing teams when they have an off day. Last weekend for example Liverpool ran Southampton ragged in the first half with sublime two goals only to go and capitulate and let Southampton win in the second half. Now this match could have been reported as Ronald Koeman getting his tactics wrong in the first half and playing into Liverpool's counter attacking game but cleverly changing his tactics for the second half and running Liverpool ragged with three superb goals scored against an overwhelmed Liverpool. The newspapers are now reporting that Liverpool still have a chance of making the top four while the best they can see for Southampton is 7th or 8th.

I sometimes think that newspaper reporters are a bit like those ten year old kids you see wearing Manchester United shirts ie they have swallowed the hype and know very little about other clubs other than the Sky Sexy Six..

That is why I am hoping that the top four this season includes West Ham and Leicester and maybe, just maybe, us.

It must annoy the Leicester fans that their credentials are still being questioned....would the media question Spurs ability to hang on to the lead quite so much if their position was switched with Leicester's and they led the table by 5 points.

Well tbf, the media question your other favourite team's credentials every season. With good reason I may add. :)

But St.G's and your point is a basically sound and well discussed before many times, imo. It's another way of saying that glamour clubs don't get beaten by smaller clubs. They have an off-day and lose. How else could it possibly happen? The best cards are stacked in their favour all the time. But the times they are a-changing. They've been changing for Liverpool for a quarter of a century. And they aren't finished yet. I suspect great things from that club. From an opposition supporters point of view. ;)

West Ham, as well. The preferred narrative has been "ah, Payet" to explain their tipping over of big clubs, but it seemed to cause some bemusement when he was out and they didn't immediately get swallowed into the ground.

Circumstances change quickly; narratives don't. The Premier League is much more fluid than people have yet accepted, despite all the evidence.
