I know some people frown upon gambling here but as long as its done for a bit of interest and not taking over your life I don't see the harm in adding a bit of spice to the afternoon's football. On a Saturday morning I like nothing more than waking up going for a fry up then into the bookies to test myself against them and try and grab some of their vast sums of cash. I do a accumulator of around 5-8 teams for between £5-10. I also do 6 matches to be draws at half time for £5 and a goal rush for both teams to score also for £5. My maximum spend is £20 and I have had some good wins over the years and also numerous weeks on end winning nothing, I think things even themselves out over the course of the season. One thing I never do is put Southampton in my accumulator to win as I couldn't take double the upset if we are defeated. I will however do a correct score if I am going to the game or we are live on sky. Do any of you guys bet on the football if so what kind of bets do you do? And are there any brave fans who bet on Southampton to win?
I never bet on Saints, did have a nice little win on Burnley to beat West Ham away earlier in the season though.
I bet on a match once and didn't win so never done it since. Bookies always win in the end so I doubt it evens out over a season. Professional gamblers make a living because they can afford large bets on dead certs at low odds (and afford to take the hits if they lose) and they are not addicted to gambling and know when to stand back. But, if you can afford it and you enjoy the odd punt, why not?
Yeah the real money is made on being able to put significant sums on dead certs (if there is one) I.E Man Utd at home against say Wigan at 1/2 all good if you have 2 grand to put on but most of us are not that lucky lol.
I worked with a bloke who did dead certs. In '76 he was able to get 4/6 on Man Utd winning the Cup Final ... dead certs, don't you love 'em!
Exactly Channon I have lost count the amount of times I have been let down by teams like that! The latest being Man Utd at home to Blackburn!
controversial i bet against saints... happy to lose the money if we win, started after the walsall game and forgot to bet against rochdale so i credit myself with getting us promoted! Also do accies 4-7 matches and goals goals goals, used to do in play markets as well but stopped on-line gambling.
I always bet on Saints when i'm headed to the ground, the elation of a predicted score win enhances the victory no end (tho it hasn't happened often) I always used to bet on Saints to Win & Pompey to Lose which used to be good but i stopped that when fortunes were reversed I currently have a bet running with my Skate colleague that started with a £5 on saints to beat leicester (and i gave him the draw) "Double or quits for Cardiff?" he enquired after gloating down the phone Why not i thought and i let him have the draw again (judgement impared by the Sharp signing) Anyway if we don't beat Birmingham he'll be collecting £20 off me That WILL be painful
Blimey betting against us that is a delicate subject haha! I try not to gamble online also because even when i win i just see it as a figure on my screen and dont appreciate it as real money stupid and dangerous I know but that's how I roll.
Yes i am battling with my alter ego as to who can create the most threads! Do you gamble joey with all that money you earn!
Not often anymore, but when I do, I can easily put £40/50 down. Used to spend about £50 a week easily. Never used to bet on football, the odds are ****, mainly horses, occasionally dogs.
I like the horses also Joey and although I do sometimes have a bet on the dogs that has to be the most bent betting sport there is however if you know a trainer then you can get some good tips and make some good money out of it.
18 on monday then i can start doing an accumulator, Not sure which one though because Dad never seems to win (always 1 short ). Any recommendations? As for stakes i dont see the harm in putting a few quid on each week to add that little bit more meaning to it without being gutted if you dont win
Bloody hell is that legal? Is it a spectator sport? Love to see your cousin in a straight race with a greyhound, but not sure about the breeding bit.
Haha Channon spiteful git! Red and white the best tip is follow your own instincts buddy dont listen to others then you can only blame yourself tips are for dogs and horses football is anyones guess mate. Joey does he give you any good tips?
I bet most weekends on the footy, usually between £20 and £35,on anything between 3 to 6 teams. i hardly ever back saints as they are normally too short to back at home, and are often less than evens away from home, which is one of my rules of betting(never back odds on away from home) I hardly ever back teams that are shorter than 4/5,and always bet online so that i can get the best return on my bet. I have approx 20 online accounts so i go on oddschecker to see which firm gives me the best odds I try to bet to win,but if i lose(which i do most weekends) it certainly isnt the end of the world.Best return this season is just over £300,but have had a lot of wins between £35 and £100. Last season i had wins of £1350,£800 and £650,and made a nice profit on the season, which i do most seasons, and this season i am just in profit. I also have £100 on Pompey to get relegated this season @ 5/1,and have backed an each way bet of Saints,Sheff Wed and Oxford to win their leagues this season. I used to bet a lot bigger, and at one time had more than 20 dogs in training at Pompey and Crayford. Joey,if your cousin is local,i would be very suprised if i dont know him.
