First of all apologies, this is not a football question but more a request for information. If you have never been there or have no interest then sorry for wasting your time. For those that are interested and have been then hopefully you have some pearls of wisdom you can share with me. I'm having a 6 month sabbatical from work starting in July and plan on spending it in South America. My current plan involves going to work in a school in Ecuador for 4 weeks while I get my Spanish up to scratch before heading to Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina (basically following the weather north to south). I may fit in a bit of Brazil at the end but I'll most likely save this for another trip. Anyway, for those that have been do you have any do's & don't's, must see & must avoids, or any other information that may help in my planning. All the best. Again, sorry for wasting some of your time.
Not at all, this Swansea forum can do with an Off-Topic Bin being stickied because the General Discussion thread seems to descend into anarchy.
MON, but South America and Antarctica are the only two continents I've not visited but will one day. Sounds a brilliant trip and I'm sure the memories will last forever. As a diver I'd try to get in the Galapagos but that's just me.
Good bit of advice for you. If your thinking of hooking up with a latina woman be careful! They Are extremely beautiful and passionate but by **** do they like to go crazy when you argue or do something wrong... Very hot blooded women they are ! Mrs Norway hails from Guatemala and while i love everything about the latin temprement sometimes i wish for a bit of calmness ! Enjoy mate .
Cheers guys. NJ, I don't think the doris will let me get away with hooking up with a latino woman. She is a bit paranoid of it happening as she won't be coming with me but I'm an honest bloke so she has nothing to worry about.... I'll just look at them.... a lot.... in a non-creepy way
The Angel Falls in Venezuela are probably worth a look. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angel_Falls And my old favourite Machu Pichu in Peru http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machu_Picchu And depending on how adventurous you are, Death Road in Peru/Bolivia http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=de...QXT0ICQAw&sqi=2&ved=0CDkQsAQ&biw=1251&bih=770
I'd want to go for the music - I love latin stuff.......oh and the women......gorgeous. If I went Brazil would be top of the list if I couldn't get to the Galapagos for the diving. Rio has always been high on my bucket list. NJ that's cruel. Taking a poor girl from a tropical climate and sticking her in one of the coldest places on the planet!
There's hundreds of deaths a year on it as vehicles go over the edge. The BBC have done several programs on it including Hugh Dennis last year but here's some YouTube of Top Gear trying it. Ignore the Doctor Who trailer. The bit at around 7mins in is terrifying and fairly typical. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXLxszv9eCM
If you can get a flight - go over the Andes (end of your armees). Most spectacular sight. Volcanoes in central Chile - head down to Patagonia to http://www.patagonia-argentina.com/en/gaiman my grandfather was born there!
