Kind of stolen from recent Channel epic programmes but ignoring the obvious chocolate and crisps. There one on GC for that anyway. I've just had Broccoli and Stilton soup for my middle of the day meal, without wanting to upset anyone so I'm being ambiguous here; some call it dinner, some call it lunch, etc. etc., and have decided it's my favourite soup. So, what's yours? This thread can evolve with cheeses and crisps and stuff being brought into, again, if need be.
I don't like soup enough to want to make it from scratch, my fave at the moment is tomato and chorizo that they do in Lidl.
Do you consider Chili a soup? If not I like a lot of soups anyway but hard to pick a favourite. Nothing like chicken and dumplings on a cold day. Italian Wedding Soup is nice too. Hungarian bean soup, bab leaves, is very good. Butternut squash soup is nice, but I can't eat it by itself, it needs to accompany something. Then there is split pea and ham soup which is either one of the greatest things on Earth, or the absolute worst depending on who made it.
I like many soups including broccoli and stilton, fish, French onion (has a horrendous effect on me), tomato, anything Thai, plenty others. One soup I won't look at let alone eat is that creamy chicken monstrosity.
Not a big fan of soup generally. Pakistani folk have a thing they call "yahani" which is a sort of soup made from meats which is ok but again not a fan. My older sister makes a lamb and bean yemeni thing which is classed as soup and that was lush. But only had it the once. I do have soup. Leek and potato, tomato etc but as a snack or starter. Never as a full meal.
Well, I don't remember Chili even being very common over there, at least when I lived there. It wasn't even on the menu usually. I do agree that it's not really a soup, however to question whether it is one or not isn't unusual. Googling "is Chili..." The top two suggestions are "healthy" and "a soup", so obviously it is something people deliberate on. So for those that consider it a soup... It is my favourite soup. For those that don't... Well, I listed the others I like. Probably a bit like the Jaffa Cake argument. At least we can all agree without discussion that marmite smeared on toasted baps for dinner at noon is heavenly.
