People say moyes is our hodgeson. Im not convinced. He would be if we had sacked him already but as hes still around could he become to united, what souness wasbto liverpool? You guys will know better than any aboutbthe souness dats and how Moyes compares.
I think your typing needs to improve. UIR out! Seriously though it's yet to be seen how Moyes will do in the long term he has to see the season out and then start the new season and see if after some signings if he can turn it around.
The biggest difference is Moyes has 16 years managerial experience, the vast majority of it in the prem. Souness only had 4 years when he took over us, as player/manager and then manager in SPL! So the comparison between Moyes and Hodgson is a better one
PS. Hodgson would wet himself at the dream of piling 81 crosses. He'd fantasise how he'd have achieved smth like that had he had Andy Carroll.
Kill kittens Support Liverpool Sitck pins in my eyes There're alternatives mate, you dont have to be miserable
Support him whether I agreed with him being manager or not. As a fan, you are not in a position to do anything else and booing just won't help the team. Fans putting pressure on the board suggests your a club thats not prepared to bide their time with a manager. I hated that we'd sacked Rafa, Woy and Kenny in such a short space of time because Liverpool had always backed their managers in the past. As much as we don't like to admit it, Man Utd and Liverpool are very similar clubs.
I see big differences. United doesn't seek as much finesse or hunger for the cutting pass like we do. I guess it is an artifact of our European conquests. Moyes was right that the wide flanked crossing game is in their genes. And you know what, he might find success with that approach next year. Wouldn't like my team to win like that for sure though.
The only similarity between Voys' and Souness's tenures is that there were fundamental problems within the club. The 2 of them are very different characters and their football philosophies are very different too. From the outside Moyes has landed himself (he didn't have to take the job) with an impossible task. An ageing team for the most part, with glaring midfield limitations and a back 4 that was beginning to creak. That scenario would take a few seasons to fix even if all of the other factors were favourable. However, behind the scenes you have lost 2 powerful entities, your owners are embroiled in a family battle and their main investment is facing problems. So does he have access to unlimited resources a la City and Chelsea or is the budget very tight? So I can't answer your question apart from saying that some of the problems were clear (even during last season win) and others could have been anticipated. But the truth is, you've got him, you deal with it.
I think rot set in slower with us, Souness let the team get gradually worse ( on the decline when he stepped in imo, although he was the biggest culprit in our demise). At least with notes you've gone from Champions to mediocre I. A matter of months, which could lead to something being done about it quicker, rather than having 24 years of hurt in the league.
I thought Paul Stewart was going to be a good buy. And Dean Saunders. I thought we'd go a few years without winning the league, but not 24. Souness was let down by the senior player at the club, and he couldn't hold on long enough to see the likes of Fowler, McManaman, Redknapp and Jones come to fruition, or I'm sure they wouldn't have turned into the Spice Boys. Think he'd have got more out of Collymore too. Truth is he tried, or maybe he had to try, changing too many players in too short of time, and the Sun business meant he had few fans willing to give him patience. And there's the omens for you - for all your money you can go from top dogs to also rans in a very short time. That said, you've still got a better squad to have a tilt at the CL than we had in '05, and it was obvious to many that Gerrard and a few of the senior players were not impressed with Rafa in that first season (until Istanbul) as they had been with houllier, so who knows?
