Town 1-3 Soton not as easy as some think, they should have beat us on their patch!!

Our biggest challenge is we are almost in February and we dont know our best players or formation. We are still bedding in newbies. Many think Broadhead should be starting and for good reason. Equally, it is clear to me that we play better and more organised with a nucleus of our L1 side!
With more games and legs, hopefully Philo, Encisco and co will build up their understanding & cohesion that could see us over the line.

A nervy and edgy game.
We'll go a goal down and it'll be that way until 80th minute when we equalise.
Then a 95th minute screamer from Chaplin, who we were all questioning his sudden reappearance in the squad, wins the game for us.

2-1

I would revert to our old formation so. Walton, Axel, O’Shea, greaves and Davis. Morsy & Cajuste. Hutchinson (right) encisco & Broadhead. Delap. Unbelievably important game for the rest of our season - already nervous and we’re 6 days away

I agree Royston, at least they know each others names!

I’ll be optimistic and go for a 2-1 Town win. Agreed with Royston on the line up above. Revert to four at the back as the five at the back isn’t proving to be as defensively solid as teams know we aren’t as effective going forwards.

It isn’t good to rotate goalkeepers, but Walton’s possibly on his last chance. His shot stopping and distribution over the last few games has been really poor. I’d argue he’s been worse than Muric. Strength of opposition in those games should cut him a bit of slack and ensures he keeps his place.

I’d possibly argue put Burgess in over Greaves, as he’s more defensively solid in the penalty area and has a better link up play with Davis. But Greaves does have the pace, which will help against the Southampton attackers counter attacking at pace. Tuanzebe at right back seems sensible.

Cajuste needs to start. Certainly our best central midfielder. Phillips doesn’t look cut out for it. Morsy has struggled lately.

I think we need to start Broadhead. I’d agree that Enciso needs game time. Set pieces - particularly corners - have been a weakness for us all season. Davis nowhere near as effective in that respect compared to last season against weaker defences. If Enciso can make that an area of strength, he’ll deserve game time.

I read from French reports that we are hoping to sign Lille striker Mohamed Bayo before Monday deadline.

He has scored 76 goals for club & country!

Southampton not in the game at all but one long ball from the keeper, a couple of passes and it's in our net.

1-0 down.

Muric should've done better with the save.
