'Sort your lives out' - Ian Holloway calls on Bristol City fans to back Lee Johnson but condemns celebration Holloway was left unimpressed by Famara Diedhiou's elaborate celebration please log in to view this image Ian Holloway has called on Bristol City fans to get behind Lee Johnson. There were murmurings of discontent after the Robins went on a four-game losing streak, but they got back to winning ways yesterday thanks to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Luton Town. Speaking on Quest's EFL highlights show, Holloway picked out winger Niclas Eliasson as his star performer for the Robins, and then had something to say about those who had questioned Johnson's position. "He's a game changer, isn't he?" Holloway said of Eliasson. "It's great to see him actually starting, he did it all afternoon. "It's the quality at the end of it, I'm delighted for him. "You just need to stay calm at this stage of the season, they'd lost four in a row, they've got a really good team. "Don't start shouting about the manager, sort your lives out. "You've got a real good team there." He added: "I don't think the top two are going to run away with it. "I actually believe if you can stay calm, stay behind your team... you'll have little runs where you go in and out of form because the competition is so tough, but stick with it." Holloway was left unimpressed by Famara Diedhiou's elaborate goal celebration, which saw the City striker get a party hat and confetti from the bench - only for them to both fail. The celebration was to mark the striker's son's birthday but, echoing Lee Johnson's comments post-match, Holloway said Diedhiou should have been focusing on the game. He said: "All joking apart, they've just lost four in a row - why are you showboating? "Sort your life out, get back out there and get us the win. "I don't like that. "It's funny because it didn't work but I'm more worried about letting him do it." https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/sort-your-lives-out-ian-3688796
Is he right ? should we all stop criticising LJ? should we all listen to a fellow Bristolian from the dark side? New resolutions for 2020 ~ (1) Change the habits of a lifetime and take Ian Holloway's advice. (2) All believe in LJ and his achievments at Bristol City FC......Regardless... (3) Carry on as normal and just be a Bristol City fan. (God bless all you Reds)
He has a point. We lost 4 in a row - not good however you dress it up, but we are at the right end of the table and still in the mix. Far too early to be calling for a change of manager imho. I think some were doing it simply because it’s Lee Johnson. There are some who have some sort of historical dislike of the guy and can’t wait to get the knives and banners out. He isn’t bulletproof but come on, 4 defeats? Pathetic.
I don't think anyone seriously wanted LJ to go?? Was not much on this forum to that effect? Maybe on here we are a bit more sensible in our approach? City are building for the future - taking a long-term view - I'm really happy with the way our club is run and managed By the way - the celebration would have been fine if it worked - their bench didn't like it though!
On this forum maybe, but OTIB was in meltdown. There was one thread entitled ‘sack him’: https://www.otib.co.uk/index.php?/topic/204763-sack-him/page/5/&tab=comments#comment-3685652
It's about having a plan as a club and some faith. Too many managers get fired as a knee-jerk reaction, losing 4 games on the bounce is clearly not a good position for anyone, but in context, we're still in the top 10 and 2 points from 5th ffs! All this from little old unfashionable Bristol City, or just Bristol as the commentators say......
That's only when they remember we actually exist supcon. We do seem to get short shrift when it comes to media coverage so I have no idea how they would announce our promotion to the nation, but that's probably stepping ahead of myself. P.S. How is your area of Oz being affected by the firestorm? To think the area around Sydney up in the Blue Mtns where Ann and I visited just last year has been devastated breaks our hearts because we fell in love with the country. Keep safe my friend.
Hi Inver, I moved back to the UK in April this year... It seems to get worse year on year for fires... Another 20 years and there will be nothing left at this rate.
Saw his amusing interview before the Mansfield game, and he got a great result with 10 men. Good luck to the bloke. The Grimsby fans already love him as per the shots on telly
Ian H I rate you, but LJ has run his course. New manager required and now. Players definitely ain’t playing for him.
The win against Man U will be with me forever but that's about it Holloway has put £100k of his own money into Grimsby !
