I just had to laugh at this pathetic statement made by Carlos Edwards. http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/21621/edwards-were-playing-to-keep-boss-in-job/page:2/#comm I just love this bit: “We come into training every day and yes, we do have our concerns, but we just keep them to ourselves. Once the games come round and the manager picks his team we are all in it together. “We are a good group of lads and when we lost three in a row recently we did not think it was the end of the world. We knew it would get better and we came back with two good away draws.”
Its similar to all these press releases you put up on here. I cant see what else you expect him to say. Hes not going to say 'we cant wait for the manager to leave - he is ****' and hes not going to say 'we lost 3 in a row, we know we are useless and we might aswell quit now because we are obviously not good enough to be professional footballers' Its a sound bite and probably the only one he can make. Yes he is concerned but as soon as a match comes around then he will try his hardest to win.
It was a pathetic read, and shows why he is the complete WRONG person as captain. As captain, you should have it out with the manager. The manager should have it out with the players etc, it's clueless at best. âHe will accept his fate and even if I would love to see him in the job for some time to come I am just one player.â That is an alarming thing to say to the press. Can be perceived in many ways, such as " he's very much already more or less sacked " to " literally every other player doesn't want him in the job ". Carlos, your meant to talk collectively, your representing the squad not yourself. Pathetic words. Stick to driving your car, oh wait...........
Westlake, even if he was to have it out with Jewell like you have suggested I doubt he would tell that to the press. What happens and whats reported may be two very different things. I cant believe the players havent over analysised every part of the performances and have most probably privately blamed everyone else for some part whether large or small but its hardly likely to be what is released to the public. Once a new manager has been appointed you will get all the normal comments about improving atmosphere, enjoying training again, feels like a fresh start, blah, blah, blah. Its similar to watching TV talent showss where you can guess what the contestants are going to say with their 'we take it on board' or politicians with 'we need to have a sensible debate' Its just the modern day standard response
PTC, think your right, was looking after the little one today so was only flicking through and looks like I misread it. Sorry Westlake.
