When you look at Liverpool, Stoke, sunderland, Birmingham and a few others who have one anthem that they belt out it's always surprised me s bit that we've never tried it with an Elton John song. I may be doing many a disservice and they'll tell me they have but it would make us stand out a bit. I just had in my head how brilliant it would look and sound to hear and see half of the Vic singing Your Song. I'll leave it there...
Yes, but I wouldn’t want it to get like Palarse and ‘Glad All Over’. Hate that bloody song when they sing it.
There's a reason I never mentioned them I really hope Doncaster pull it off this weekend. You just know what's going to happen...
I have always thought that "Dream the impossible dream" should be our song it fits our recent history perfectly
Yep - i go with that if you send the words out don't really care what it is but would be great to have one song that stands out from everyone else. And before I get any flack I think the singing section are great - it's not about that but rather having one belting song.
I've paid my dues Time after time I've done my sentence But committed no crime And bad mistakes I've made a few I've had my share of sand kicked in my face But I've come through. We are the champions, my friends And we'll keep on fighting 'til the end We are the champions We are the champions No time for losers 'Cause we are the champions of the world. Would that be overdoing it a bit?
I think they tried this a couple of seasons ago when SEJ stand was opened...didn't really take off. Now here is something that I have thought of but never written it down....SEJ is fabled for being able to write a tune to practically any lyric, I remember him once throwing tune together around the instructions for a microwave oven!!! Anyway, do we have any budding lyricists that can put some words down and we can ask the great man if he could put a tune (that would get the Vic rocking) together for them?
The words to Dream the impossible Dream To dream the impossible dream To fight the unbeatable foe To bear with unbearable sorrow To run where the brave dare not go To right the unrightable wrong To love pure and chaste from afar To try when your arms are too weary To reach the unreachable star This is my quest, to follow that star No matter how hopeless, no matter how far To fight for the right Without question or pause To be willing to march Into hell for a heavenly cause Sums up everything that has happened to us since I started attending matches in 1968 If we could sing it like the Kop sing you'll never walk alone
*DONT KNOW WHATS HAPPENED HERE RE SENDER ,BUT ITS FROM oldnickhornet * A bit of showing off here-you'd have had to have actually SAT on the roof etc Alternatives: Saturday Nights Alright For after match drinks (Fighting)-except that theres rarely Sat p.m games anymore I'm Still Standing- for rebels who dont want to sit at matches Something About The Way You Look Tonight -when theyre losing 6-0 in an evening game (as if ! ) Tiny Dancer -for Wilf Rostron or for the over 25s ,Tommy Harmer Goodbye Yellow (Brick) (and black/red), Vic Road, if they ever plan to move elsewhere Dont Let The SON (of Tottenham FC) Go Down (On Me) in the penalty area Sacrifice would change to Sac(K) The Board if results poor on the field There would be more but shouldnt spoil everyone too much...actually my bet is likely this will go down like a lead balloon on here
Thank you, very good of you cos your original post was obviously making a serious point - til i interfered
I've been posting on here on and off for nigh on eight years Nick - nobody has ever considered any of my points to be serious!
