£25mn and okay, but I really hope Wenger turns around and just tells Barca to F**K OFF and Song to Nut up. We have to make a stand otherwise we are just constantly going 2 steps forward and 2 steps back.

By giving him a sign or sell ultimatem he is in effect taking a stand by not letting them run down their contract. Unfortunately player power rules and under the circumstances this is the best wenger can do. Reportedly song has been refusing to train too. Letting them rot in the reserves and leave on a free isn't a viable alternative.

Selling Song is stupid. Van Persie I'm not bothered about, 29, did not want to stay, 24 mill for him is good business, Song on the other hand would be something else totally.

It is always the player's fault, you dropping hogwash innuendo, Song is engineering his move to Barca and he is refusing to train..... would you care to name your source please? No wonder Wenger and his band of merry men can get away with asset stripping and fire sale every close season!

Yep, why not. Look for AFCAMDEN on twitter. This guy has pretty much got most of things that has happened this summer spot on. He said on Tuesday or Wednesday, that Song will be gone. And called his and his agents actions, 'disgusting'.

The Guardian was reporting over a week ago that Arsene Wenger was getting pissed off with Song's attitude

SuperJack, you have to wonder why always us? It's really getting tiresome, the manner in which we lose core members of our team...... I can understand RVP's departure, but just don't get the club willing to sell Song so close to the season start. Can we continue to blame the players everytime this happens, we must have the biggest collection of money grabbing players...... Forget the board who seems to want to listen to offers, irrespective of whether they are on a long term contract or not!

It would appear to me that something like this has happened.Barcelona have come sniffing round Song.Rather than just say "**** Of i'm happy and under contract at Arsenal" Song susposedly came out with all this **** about Barcelona being the biggest club in the World. It would appear that Arsene Wenger has told Song if he wants to go Barcelona well he might aswell **** off now

I think we would be willing to keep Song, if it was not for his actions. He has years left on his contract and he was a first team player last season and can only improve given his age. But things have happened in the last few weeks, and the things we are hearing are that Song and his agent have kicked up a fuss. Is Song so good a player that we can tolerate that sort of behaviour? For me, no. If we get the reported £19 Mil for him, then I would be happy to see us get Sahin and one of M'Vila,Capoue or Biglia. That's not bad business.

But do you really blame them? It is known Arsenal pays too much for average players and too little for the top players. This automatically leads to situations like this. When a player is growing then they want to join arsenal since we, at that stage, we pay well but when they take the next step (from average player to someone 'special') then they are underpaid (in the football world).

Also, imagine if someone came to your job and offered you the same job but twice the money. You would probably also go...

Watching this whole saga unfold is like watching Titanic. Minus seeing Kate Winslet's firm boobs being fondled. That would've softened the blow. :(

I have to say that I cannot think of any other top flight club where high profile players depart every season as much as ours. Something is obviously going on behind the scenes which the fans are not informed about. It comes down to 2 things, either our players have zero respect for Arsenal and just see us as a stepping stone to bigger clubs or our board are the money grabbing scum who are willing to sell off our most valued assets for a wad of cash. From where im sitting it looks like every season Wenger is trying to patch holes in a bucket with no bottom. We became a selling club a long time ago and I think the major clubs around Europe are well aware of this fact.

Wenger is working wonders considering the conditions he is working in and makes me realise that no other manager would be able to pull off the miracles he does season after season.

Maybe if we started standing outside players homes with banners reading 'you will be killed if you go to such and such club' (like they do up north) the situation would change but most gooners cant really be bothered with that kind of behavior, we have too much pride and integrity.

I have to say, that I like the clean out that is going on. Everybody has been very eager to blame the board, Wenger, the coaching and everything else, but the blame really sits with the players. I don't give a rat's ass what Song thinks he is entitled to win, he is just a loser at the moment.

I like him as a player but if we are to win we have to put our faith in players that want to win at Arsenal, not players that want as much money as possible, or want to go and play for a club where they don't have to work as hard for success. It takes a certain kind of player to win against the odds, and if Song hasn't got that strength of character, then he has to go.

I believe that there are better players out there, who are hungrier for success, who will be more committed to Arsenal, available for what we can get for Song. I'm not saying he is rubbish, but there are very few players in the world that are irreplaceable. RVP is not, and Song certainly is not. We are not talking Messi or Ronaldo here.

Edit: I like what Wenger is doing. Either you are committed to Arsenal or you can **** the hell off; either you think we can win or you are out!

Could be a ploy used by Wenger to win over the fans after the van Persie debacle.

Makes up a story that Song, one of Arsenal's best players now, may well go and then when he inevitably stays and signs a new contract Wenger says, "Look, I managed to hold on to him and convince him to sign a new contract".

Maybe, but you have to think that if he was making it up, it might be counter-productive. I'm not sure Song would sign a new contract with Wenger telling lies about him.

I think it is combination of both, players using us as a stepping stone and our Board eager to sanction any move as long as they can make a tidy profit.

Yeah I think this is probably a correct analysis. Barca and the Manchester clubs have given us quite a bit of money over the last few seasons as they seem to be our best customers. When you look at our signing of a washed up Silvestre compared to a prime RVP it does put our place within footballs elite into perspective, especially in the transfer market.
