Alex song is a warrior and for me doesn't get enough praise for his displays, he can win the ball, score goals & has create a hatfull of assists this season. More than the 80m bale and 45m modric he is easily the best DM in the premier league.
he is a bit sloppy in possession sometimes, and sometimes doesn't position himself correctly to intercept the ball and protect the defence, but apart from that, i would agree.
Gives away the ball far too often for my liking but this seems to be overlooked due to his occasionally superb assists. I love the way he muscles people off the ball. It looks effortless. Don't regard him as a defensive midfielder though, at least not this season.
I rate Song very highly, but his thought processes seem to operate about 1 second behind the really top players. If he could sharpen his reflexes he would be superb.
He's not a DM. I think just because he's big and strong and does some tacking, he's a DM. He is a midfielder that does some defending, which all midfielders should be doing. I think Arteta does a lot of defending too ,but he isn't a DM either. We don't have a dedicated DM in our system. As for him being the best midifelder in the league, then no. He is good but there are quite a few in front of him at the moment. Yaya for example plays a simular role, from defense to attack, but does it so much more better. I don't even think that the Song, Arteta and Rosicky combination is the best. Wilshere, Areta and Rosicky could be better. I think we need to test that out too.
Good shout that. As an all round midfielder Yaya Toure is superb and, as much as I love Song, I'd happily switch the two.
I think you have a point there. He seems to be a bit too relaxed, especially for the premiership. But when everything clicks, he is very good. All i know is that with every year he is improving and i think next year he will be even better. However, he now has direct competition from the likes of Arteta, Wilshere and possibly Ramsey, if he can pick it up. When Wilshere comes back someone has to be dropped to the bench. Will it be Song?
i missed the lady i've been kicked off the ja606 because of the liverpool board complaining of wumming
He's the best 'all rounder'. Can tackle, good in the air, is quick and gets some great assists. He plays more of a box to box role at the moment which suites him well. When he plays well , Arsenal play well.
Yaya has played a mainly attacking role this term. At Barcelona he was the most 'defensive' of their midfielders(until busquets took his place) but in reality his natural position is as an attacking mid. Tiote has found his level at Newcastle. He's a good player but not 'top Class'.
Join the club. I was exiled for "keeping it too real" Song is a good player but I don't really rate him in his own half. His passing is sloppy and he loses the ball alot for a defensive midfielder.
Yaya is better yes. But Tiote? He was very wasteful in possession, fouls for fun, and can he play through balls like Song ..no. At the moment defensive duties are rotated by Arteta and Song. Arteta is very reluctant to risk a forward pass, and Song is willing to do so, when he gets it right, RVP is happy.
