Hopefully the Leicester game will give the club the kick up the arse it's needed to sign some quality players. As it stands, it's a relegation scrap this season.
Well, I read a lot of doom and gloom on here, so I'm not so sure. And he hadn't seen any of the opening three games before making his prediction.
What's particularly worrying for me - yes I know there are lots of worrying things happening right now - but the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing. Guidolin talks about signing a quality CB and still hopes that will happen whilst in fact we sign a youngster from a lower division then it's announced by Curtis (who seems to know more than the Manager) that we won't be signing anyone else. I've never liked the idea of a manager not having anything to do with signings although I understand that's what Guidolin is used to and it happens elsewhere, but this isn't working for us.
Sorry but it's too early to forecast anything because uncertainty and inconsistency is the order of the day right now. We have a Manager who seems to get it right one game then woefully wrong in the next; a weak, nervous-looking back line and an attack that is not cutting the mustard. We know that the Board aren't going to spend any more money so the only question we need to ponder really is whether or not Guidolin has the nous to put things right using the assets he already has. That is yet more that I'm uncertain about, because I simply don't know - but I am seriously worried. It's great that some people are confident of a mid-table finish but with the current environment I can't see how that can be predicted. Our squad is weaker than last season and that may be the first time that's happened since our arrival in this League. Uncertain and worrying times ahead so get used to it.
I wish I had the faith to believe we will finish mid table, but everything I've seen last season and this only tell me we will be in a relegation scrap.
What's difficult to take is that during the climb from bottom of the league to PL, every season seemed to get better - and that is an addictive situation. Now, when we seem to be failing, it's very upsetting, as we all know what it's like down there in the lower leagues. I couldn't believe how awesome I felt when we won our first match in the Championship, but the thought of dropping down there now is depressing.
15 teams draw straws every season to see which 3 teams drop , fortunitley for us we've draw long straws every season on a shoestring budget . It can happen anytime to any of the 15 clubs and if it turns out to be us , all I ask is to be financially stable for the trip back
I have a different take on this....We may look weaker and probably are but we still have a good team who can beat anyone on the day.....Our problem is we dont have the right manager, It is as simple as that....If we can get someone with the experience of the short passing game that we were once one of the best teams at doing that then we will reach safety in no time. But the club needs to recognize that we wont go anywhere other than down the way we are.......We cant leave it too late to make changes....
Maybe after a few more games Guidolin will be let go .....just in time for Monk to be available dai .....lol Then you'll call for Monk being given all the time in the world
