The Hoops ended a 15-year exile from the top flight by storming to the Championship title in 2010/11. Last season only Blackpool were unable to avoid relegation in their first season after tasting promotion, with Newcastle and West Brom finishing in mid-table. Former Magpies defender Ramage believes Stoke's blueprint for success should be followed to ensure that QPR's return to the top flight does not end prematurely. "A lot of the teams that have gone up in recent years have managed to stay in the top flight, with the likes of Wolves and Stoke establishing themselves in the Premier League, so they have shown that clubs can stay up and become regulars in the best league in the world," he told skysports.com. "The manager has previously focused on Stoke as our benchmark for next season because they've done ever so well since gaining promotion a few years ago. "We've just got to play with a bit of freedom and enjoy it because it is going to be tough and no one is kidding themselves on that front, but we do feel that we have enough in the squad, especially if the gaffer adds to it this summer, to remain in the top flight beyond next season."
