We're going to finish a Premier League season with the same manager as we started it with! I can't even remember the last time this happened. Must be about 5 years ago at least. Testiment to Pards for the job he's done, and here's hoping for many more seasons like this! For all we may lose players in the summer, I have full confidence we'll replace them with equal or greater quality, and am quite excited.

I think Roeder (2006-2007) was the closest. I think he resigned just before the last game IIRC.

A real shame that he did as well, Roeder was brilliant for us, he had the worst injury record I can remember...Handing debuts to 17 year old Krul and Carroll, not for experience but through necessity!

Personally I wasn't too fussed when Roeder went. I didn't like the old fashioned style of football we played under him. And he and Souness have plenty to answer for in the destruction of Shola's hip! They asked him to play through the pain barrier far too much. He did have plenty of injuries though and did ok results wise considering.

Wouldn't mention Souness in the same breath as Roeder, just wouldn't mention Souness, period.

Souness was in some ways the worst appointment we ever made. (I think only Fat Shams long ball was worse) Shepherd wanting a disciplinarian after Sir Bobby had supposedly lost control (horseshite in itself) was all well and good. He forgot one vital criteria when picking a manager though. You need them to be a good manager!! Just awful and we were clueless under him.

Probably unfair to mention him in the same breath as Roeder but they both culpable for Shola being a perma crock.

So, am I right in saying this hasn't happened in the Premier League since Wor Bobby. It's hard to compare Pardew to Sir Bobby because of the light he's held in, in our region but in the same breath it's hard not to. He's working wonders!
