Because they’re from Ajax and he has a history at Feyenoord. That’s according to forward, who has been speaking to Viaplay. His comments have been relayed by Voetbal Primeur. Traoré and Brobbey both joined Sunderland in the summer in a late, deadline day move from Dutch giants Ajax. Geertruida, meanwhile, arrive in a loan deal from RB Leipzig, where he had been since 2024. He had previously played for Feyenoord, joining their youth side in 2012. He went on to play for the U17s, U19s and then the first team, making 202 appearances for the latter during his time there. Brobbey, meanwhile, is a product of the Ajax youth system. He rose through the ranks there before also joining Leipzig in 2021. He return to Ajax in 2022 after a loan spell and has made 163 appearances for the club. Traoré didn’t come through the ranks but has 89 appearances for the Dutch club over two spells. The pair have close ties to Ajax as a result, and that’s led to some interesting conversations with Geertruida given his ties to rivals Feyenoord. “Of course, we often talk about Ajax and Feyenoord,” explained Traoré. “Lutsha is a very funny guy, so we always say: ‘Ajax is the best in the Netherlands. Ajax is the best. Amsterdam is the best’. And he always complains back. But that’s funny.” I like the crack the players always seem to have with each other.
