    From the club site.

Phil Thompson today reflected on a successful summer in the transfer market and an impressive start to the season on the pitch, and declared: "Something big is happening at Liverpool."

With seven new signings arriving over the summer and a number of fringe players having departed the club, Thompson has been thrilled with the way Dalglish and his staff have gelled the team together so quickly, and he believes all the signs are now pointing towards a bright future at Anfield.

"I like the way the transfer business has been done, going back to January as well," Thompson told Liverpoolfc.tv. "A lot of business has been conducted without too much press interference or people knowing too much about it. It's been done in a very Liverpool-like way and I'm extremely pleased for Kenny Dalglish and Damien Comolli for what they've achieved. You have to take your hats off to Fenway Sports Group as well who have dug deep.

Good read - I'm also quite excited about seeing Bellamy play for us once more. As Thommo mentions, he's a spark, unpredictable, will be useful if Suarez isn't playing. The bench looks so much stronger now.

I don't find myself saying this very often, Luv, but I agree wholeheartedley with Tommo there.

That was a great cross by Downing last night (and a decent finish by the manc). A bright spot in a terribly dull game of football.

I 100% agree with thommo here.

The problem I have is that I can't take anything he says seriously anymore since 'A Feint Zebra' from RAWK started the 'Lurking Thommo' photoshop series. Every time I see him I think of him lurking in random places

Is this a good thing? Based on previous seasons, having Thompson say things are going well is like having McNulty names you as favourites for the title - it automatically means you are ****ed... :)

It makes for a more interesting season, that's for sure...Utd will still be Utd it would seem, City are getting stuck in and we are undecided as to whether we are going to turn up yet!

Arsenal and Spurs are squabbling between themselves as to who's going to bottle it first, which leaves a smart sized space for a resurgent club to fill.

    Like QPR for example<laugh>
