<peacedove>Kenny Dalglish should know better why Maxi Rodriguez is not playing regularly. We are struggling to score goals but this man usually score why he is on, someone can argue that the goals he scored yesterday are too easy.Personally I would like to see more of him before the end of the season.<applause><applause>

I asked precise this question after you beat Chelsea in the cup. I came here asking how Kuyt and Maxi aren't the first two names on the teamsheet.

They're your two most effective players yet they seem to be regarded as 2nd and 4th choice subs.

One thing Maxi does really well is get in the box! He's always there and finds space for the tap in.

Maxi has the habit of being in the right place at the right time to bang in the goals, a skill the rest of our forwards would do well to learn

By far one of our most effective players, even looking at his movement off the ball in the attacking third to leave himself open for passes is something we've lacked, and it really helped us keep the ball ticking over in dangerous positions. Suarez/Maxi/Bellamy would be such a dangerous trio, probably with Kuyt wide right too. All are smart and know the best places to be in to be dangerous and in goal scoring positions.

Maxi links the play together better than nearly all of our other players. He reads a game well, sees open space and is very good in close areas where the simple ball is always on. I do think he is under used and to be honest ive no idea why we he hasnt played more...

In the second half of last season, Maxi, Suarez and Kuyt linked up beautifully. They created and scored goals. I didn't want us to make wholesale changes to that line-up but to just strengthen overall.
We did make a lot of changes and I think we suffered a lot for that. But I suppose we were looking to the future, Kenny probably felt that Maxi and Dirk didn't have long enough left in them and we needed to build a younger team.
I still feel we dropped them too quickly though, but then what do I know?

What was telling about last nights game was that Maxi was the only one making advanced runs into the box in anticipation of the cross/pass. At precisely the same time the CF (Mr Carroll) was about 15-20 yds behind where Maxi was.

This indicates that Maxi has the instinct/hunger of a fox in the box, which Carroll doesn't, or it indicates that Carroll is way short of fintness and stamina. He took his goal well though, coming as it did with him being the most advanced player.

I think it is actually criminal how little Maxi has played this year when all he has done in KK reign is score goals, and important ones at that.

Agreed, he showed last night what we have been missing all season - someone who is in the right place at the right time!

It's a massive shame he's not 5 or 6 years younger, he'd be exactly what we need. I wouldn't mind keeping him on for another season, just because you know he can still impact games during our redevolpment.

saint mentioned me by name. so i WILL give an answer.

    1. anyone calling for him now can you actually rememebr his last start and the result?

    2. the second goal feel right on his foot. thats not being i nthe right place thats luck... and i'm glad we got it.

    3. the others saying they wished he was younger are quite right, the guy is slow, can't run and has three great assets hobbled by this. first he is technically good as shown by his finishes, second he's composed, again showed last night and finally he does have game intelligence and knows where to be...

    4. the problem is if yougive him 5 games he'll be totally out of it due to fatigue. its a pity but there it is.

He should get more game time. He is probably the best player we have at keeping hold of the ball. He never seems to panic when he has the ball and as previously mentioned always gets into the right area to stick the ball in the net.

First goal was pretty simple finish but did well to keep up with Bellamy and get himself into the area. The second was a great finish. It looked simple but it came to him quickly, on the volley on his weaker side. A lot of players would have thrashed at that and sent it high and wide, which just shws how good his technique is.

He goes missing in games A LOT, there are times when you forget hes on the pitch, also hes is pretty poor when we havnt got the ball too
But he without doubt is an excellent reader of the game, who can create goals and sniff goals out too

When he plays on a regular basis he is not very good. I think he should play more often but is not someone who should start every game.

the goals were not easy. to score a goal you need to judge the balls trajectory and positioned yourself to aim at goal.
