"Lots of things can be said in the spur of the moment which don't make you really believe what you've said," said Fernandes.

"I don't think you can write someone off as a racist because of one statement. Having said that, it is in the public eye and people like John have to be gooder than good. If he said it, it is wrong because of who he is but I don't say he's a racist because of that one statement."

    Finally some prespective!!

The interesting thing about this is that it has come from the owner of QPR--surely the one person who must have grilled Anton Ferdinand before he made this public statement, wouldn't you think?

The gossip doing the rounds is that the pressure is getting to anton as much as john.

Rangers fans are hoping this could derail our season; how ironic that it could derail theirs

Given he's racially abused Ledley King and Samuel Eto'o in the past, mind...

The comment by Trevor Sinclair saying he only does it to gain an advantage is gobsmacking misses the point worse than Johnny Wilkinson in the Rugby World Cup.

There won't be a source, seems to me 'guilty till proven innocent' is the way forward and accusations are automatically truth untill proved otherwise. Sad really but oh well.

Not really. If he said it in the heat of the moment and didn't mean for it to sound as it did, then why not explain, apologise and move on?

It's black and white, either he's innocent or he's guilty making him a liar and a racist.

I've been informed by my lawyer that using "if" and "either he's innocent or he's guilty" is sufficient.

One stray comment doesn't make one a racist but unfortunately if true he will always be branded as such.

Three guys Tony, Peter & Ensil. Tony is an architect and built most of his town's houses. Every morning he leaves for work and people say, 'Hey there goes Tony the house builder'.

Peter is a ship builder and built all the fishing boats in his village and every morning he leaves for work the say 'Hey there goes Peter the ship builder'.

Ensil is a sound recordist who worked with Slade and when he leaves the house to go to work do the people say 'there goes Ensil the sound recordist'? No but only once he suckka the cock. <laugh>
