So, its got to the stage when I feel nervous when Liverpool are just 1 goal up because I don't have confidence in them holding the lead.

I know the attackers are not converting enough chances in front of goal. But I feel its the defence that needs fixing first.

To compete at the top, you need to be able to complete a clean sheeting.

But where does the problem lie? Is it the players? formation? tactics? communication? distraction? concentration?

What ever it is it needs fixing fast.

One thing I have noticed is Liverpool are struggling a lot with balls from wide, crosses and set pieces, and are not dealing with aerial thread well enough.

One thing that could work here is to crowd the Liverpool defence a bit more by adding another centre back.

This system worked wonders for Liverpool last season. Its well compact, and will suit the passing and possession game in the midfield, and with Johnson and Enrique at wing back we wont loose any width (if any thing we will gain some).

Any option is to add some hight and energy to the back by giving young Seb Coates a game. He's a big strong guy and has some talent. He's young, and new to English football. But his aerial ability could be just what Liverpool need.

    Thoughts?

I think the fact you're suggesting that 3 CBs do a job that 2 CBs are supposed to do hits the nail on the head as regards our defensive issues - Carra and Skrtel just don't cut it for me.

The formation that you suggest worked so well last season in games such as Chelsea. I honestly thought Kenny may use it this season. God knows why he hasn't.

Also bringing Agger on for Kuyt when we're after the three points... WTF

It's exactly the kind of thing Rafa used to do and would make me want to bang my head against a brick wall.

It's very strange - why not take a defender off and bring Maxi on. Take a gamble, either lose one point or gain 2points.

It's such a frustrating game for spectators at times....

Lads, whatever we need sorting can't be expected to be sorted overnight. We are rebuilding, therefore these mistakes are bound to happen and our main aim will be to find the best possible solution instead of looking for a quick fix. Today the 11 men on the pitch didn't do the job, no point blaming KK or anyone else for that matter.

I am not blaming individuals, I jut feel the things going wrong at the back are school boy errors. Even 2 seasons ago our defence was better than this.

They say that when rebuilding, the first thing you have to do is keep a clean sheet.

Agger moved into the LB position so that Enrique could move up to play a winger/striker. That way we had Enrique up the left side attacking and weren't deficient at LB. Plus Agger is always in the box for corners and such.

I think 3 CBs is a good idea. We could effectively play Enrique and Johnson as wingers then.
