Following on from the 'old 606' thread by CS, and by popular demand, here's a home for our new way to waste time. Essentially, have a look at old 606 and see what little gems you can find. All of us will probably have made grand predictions at some point, but some are particularly wide of the mark. Let's see who can come up with the best one. For anyone who's featured, please don't take offence, it's just a bit of fun. It really could be any of us, though I think there's a chance Mike could feature quite heavily! Happy hunting!
To begin (sorry Warky): "comment by johnnywarksmoustache (U14116446) posted Mar 12, 2011 The Derby is a different ball game! We will have nothing to play for apart from pride and you will be 5hitting yourselves as the pressure will all be on you! PJ knows how much this game matters to us and he will make sure that the players go out there and give everything. PJ is far more tactically superior than Keane and Lambchop. A one off game with nothing to fear! Bring it on Budgie Smugglers!"
Thai - now you've added Thailand's national flag to your signature, does this mean you've given up UK citizenship?
What I enjoy most about that Warky comment, is the character he uses instead of the S in "****ting". Did he know something? I'll have a look back through the archives later and see what I can dig up.
Just a standard one really. "comment by colu_mike (U6784278) posted May 2, 2011 Congratulations Budgies. Now I look forwards to your back to back relegation's with much excitement. "
"LancashireYorkshireHampshireOsborneOneNilLondoner (U13835527) posted Apr 2, 2011 Too little, too late. If it wasn't for that disastrous spell at the end of Keane's time we'd be in with a shout of auto and pretty much certs for the play offs. "
"comment by johnnywarksmoustache (U14116446) posted Apr 4, 2011 I love the fact the budgies think they'll come and tonk us at Portman Road! Arsenal thought that as well! We have nothing to play for but pride and by god after the horror of Carrot Rud our boys are going to put on a performance! If they think we are going to be that poor again then bring it on!"
This is more like it! " comment by JonahJameson (U10914675) posted Jan 17, 2011 So, one wum Keano fanboy masquerading as an Ipswich fan (hopefully only until Royston gets another job) stupidly compares Wickham to Rooney and this Norwich troll joker goes to all that trouble. Amazing. At least it highlights the Norwich obsession with their infinitely more illustrious neighbours. Why else are they permanently camped here (using “camp” in three senses of the word). As for Holt, I see Norwich have failed to win yet another match in which they’ve failed to have an opposition player sent off. If there’s any justice, officials and the world at large are finally getting wise to them. The QPR sending off was particularly hilarious: QPR defender holding up his hands before… errr .. “contact” was even made as Holt deliberately slowed down in front of him – yet another incompetent ref ignoring the covering defender running right in front of Holt’s latest successful dive. Norwich diving, handballing, overt-the-top challenges, screaming at refs and general “gamesmanship” is hopefully now being noticed and accounted for. The only downside is that Lambert’s reputation is evidently taking hit and no respectable club will want to poach him."
So ****ing angry: "mment by JonahJameson (U10914675) posted Nov 28, 2010 “No, you said they'd 'exited'!” So I did! The social anthripologists are very exited about the prospects of researching Carra and the rest of you Norwich types – imagine the excitement for ground-breaking academics: They spend their careers getting first class results at top universities; then they go out in the field to study small-scale societies such as untouched-by-technology-as-far-as possible tribes in sub-Saharan Africa, New Guinea etc; they make their name, then they find there’s a whole new resource right on their doorstep! All they had to do was to look to Norfolk and you Norwich 606ers."
comment by PoliticalCanary SAVE 606 (U1439179) posted Sep 26, 2010 Hampy - I genuinely don't like you mate, you've got a really bad attitude and a massive chip on your shoulder. Why is that so?
by truebluecordy (U12982517) 18 January 2010 Just wanted to start a disscussion on Lee-Barrett performances for Town since he came in for Wrighty. Do you guys think he should stay as Town's No1 or should Murphy be given the nod. Personally i think he does done a cracking job for us and should stay in goal for us.
comment by LancashireYorkshireHampshireOsborneOneNilLondoner (U13835527) posted Jan 19, 2010 I was delirious when Wrighty returned - and he kind of half-delievered in terms of his effort and given the string of average to bad keepers we had in between his spells. But then from nowhere comes Arran Lee-Barrett. He looks Premier League class in my opinion. He seems to always make the right decisions, be in the right place, composed, great shot stopper, great kicker. He makes it look easy and that gives the defence bags of confidence and is why we're virtually impossible to beat. Murphy will have to be world class to unseat him and I just hope it's not the Norris situation again where his name's on the teamsheet already. I also hope it's not the case that as soon as Lee-Barrett slips up (which will happen by law of averages) he's out in the cold. Fingers crossed Keano can see what we all see please log in to view this image Better give it a rest now, I could spend hours enjoying these!
On the subject of Keane: "comment by ButchersBandage (U12461066) posted Sep 20, 2010 Excellent article. Too many people still perceive him to be the hot-tempered, irrational, and even nasty on occasions, player that he was. His managerial 'style' is still very no-nonsense but his whole ethos now seems to value honesty, graft and commitment at all times. Whatever peoples personal views I believe he is now very consistent in his approach to the squad and it's reaping dividends."
Read my lips-no new taxes Bugger all to do with 606 but still the most regrettable statement of our times I imagine
Come on you blues Championship Ipswich Town by LancashireYorkshireHampshireOsborneOneNilLondoner (U13835527) 16 September 2009 Can't see beyond the relegated Prem sides for automatic promotion, that leaves us needing to aim for sixth, which is easily within our grasp. In terms of going up through the play-offs it's better for us to start badly and then gather momentum than the other way around. Mark my words - next season there will be a whole division between us and the vomit-shirt-wearers - Re that last point, Hampy might not be far wrong.
