Me thinks they telling porkies to try to cover up their foul play. There is no chance that they would try to change it to a structured deal, do you think Steve Bruce would quietly accept it.
I call BULLSHIT to this comment. SB knows perfectly well how deadline day works and there's no way he'd have gone to those lengths to get Long to the training ground if there were issues over the fee.
Do you have evidence that proves the opposite? Either way, I'm going to defend the club until it has been proved to be.
To be fair, NPs direct quotes are vague enough to allow for this possibility. “It’s enormously disappointing, of course, but West Brom had always made it clear it would be conditional on them doing their own business,” Thompson told the Mail. “They came to the stage late in the day that they no longer wanted to do the deal. “That’s understandable because you look after your best interests as a football club, but it was hard to take coming so late in the day. Everyone I have spoken with since has said ‘That’s football’ but it’s still hugely disappointing.”
WBA tryin to build bridges with Shane Long to me. Nah Hull didnt really want you thats why they lowered their bid-bollocks. This blokes a dick and shoulda kept his mouth shut.
Defend your club to the hilt, I know I would. But unfair to jump to conclusions of WBA, don't you think?
SB isn't Assem Allam. Assem probably said go ahead with a £5.5m straight up front fee, then decided later we couldn't actually pay it up front and asked to split it into structured payments. There's no way WBA would come out and officially release such a specific statement that was a complete lie. Nobody from our club has come out and said anything that contradicts a word of West Broms statement. I think they're telling the truth.
